I bought one that was refurbed, and resold it. Had more hassle with jams and leaving marks than it was worth. Coulda been a bad refurb, but I haven't heard any good comments about their nailers.
Some good brand names: Senco, Bostitch, Porter Cable, Paslode
I dunno if Paslode makes a nailer that's compressor-driven, but their hose-less nailers are quite convenient in many situations, although rather pricey.
I like Senco and Bostitch, in that order (although I've actually had better luck with Bostitch). Others may think they suck based on their experiences.

Yes, but it's ok. They're not broken, only "non-functional". See, you can still smack the nail with the side of the nail gun, so it works, right?
