Trebeck's Arcade 2.0
« on: April 18, 2007, 12:38:02 pm »
Hey all

Well I finally have my shop all setup and construction has begun on my new and improved arcade.  I made plenty of mistakes on the first one so this will be a huge improvement on the last model.  Of course every shop needs some cool stuff so I have star wars and beer.  That tie fighter is pwned!

Nice web site.   Your machine looks great.   Your mistakes if any are not evident.  You should put up a pic in the first message as a tease to get traffic to your website.  Please Click Here

Very professional looking.

Well documented and your website is very clean and well designed. Definitely saved as a favorite. How's about some pics of your shop? ;D

Hey all

Thanks for the feedback!   :notworthy:

Timoe - yah I grabbed a few of the "spotlight" LED's for PC's and stuck them in the MDF.  Check the attachment to see how I did it.  Very easy.  Dark lagers don't light up much with blue but Vodka glows very nicely!

Chris G - Yah it was hehe but it will last forever.

Originally, did you light the drink holders to make them easier to find, or to glow through the drink?  You've inspired me to try someting new.......

Marky - PM replied

Chris - Just want you all to know I feel for everyone who has a cramped space.  I live in Vancouver and I am VERY lucky to have a garage that wasn't being used.  I rent, and my 3 roomies don't use it thank God.  But as karmic payment I get a bunch of "Can you make this?" or "Can you fix this?"  Hard to say no when you have a toolbelt wrapped around you.

Hey all,

Well, the project is coming along nicely with only a few obstacles.  I finally got the keyboard drawer go fit properly, and man did it fight me all the way.  The left side was in too far by about 1/4 inch and it took me forever to get it right.  But I decided to buy high end parts and man what a difference.  It slides in and out very smoothly compared to my other cab.
I also added more "bling" to this cab by the way of police beacons.  The switches will be mounted on the sound panel so you can turn them on when you put the beats on a friend.  I have also had a facination with police beacons since I was a little geek so go figure.

I'm also going to have switches for the many neon tubes on this beast but I have to find some nice switches first.  Anyone know of a good place to get them?  I am looking for more "nuclear launch" switches compared to the ones at Home Depot.  :timebomb:

Thanks
Beck

Marky, The tie fighter was from back in 94 when they re-released all the toys again.  I think it was when Lucas decided to mess with the originals and bring them back to the theaters.

Yes I remember it well I was at college back then and we all went to see them at the cinema was the first chance I ever got to see the original trilogy in the cinema. Wish I had thought to purchase some of the re released toys. You working on a new project Trebeck? or are you altering your original cab? Maybe if you are could turn that shop into an arcade :D
