**update 9/20/07** you can now fill out surveys legitimately, but be hassle free!  the only bad part before about filling out surveys was giving these companies your phone number...and then you get telemarketer calls.  well go sign up at www.privatephone.com and get a local number.  this allows you to post your legit phone number to companies, and then when they call, it goes straight to your voicemail.  you can then check your voicemail from any phone, by dialing your new privatephone number and putting in the PIN number.  BUT THE COOL THING is that you can then call back that number and it will show up on caller ID as your privatephone.com number!  whys that so cool??  because gaminglagoon requires you to call them back to give your shipping info, but you have to call back from the number you registered on their site (shows up on their caller ID) or they wont send you your prize.  well privatephone solves that problem!!!  booyah! 

no this is not spam, just thought id help out fellow BYOAC 360/wii owners.  if you want a FREE 1600 ms points code or wii points, then listen up.  no it's not a scam, yes it is real and you do get the code to use on your 360/wii.  and no it's not like the old conga line things where you have to sign up for bmg and columbia and then get all your friends and their friends to sign up, etc. etc.  this actually works.  i have already gotten two 1600 ms point codes via email and used them.

then all you do is sign up and start filling out surveys.  just about all of them are free (i dont do any of the fee based ones), and you get "points" for filling them out after they are approved.  i just made up a temp hotmail email address and put in fake address stuff in the surveys so it doesnt come back to me, or spam my email inbox.  it takes 22 points to get the free ms points or wii points card.  right now i have 10 points and that only took a day to get.  i should my code in the next day.  so go try it out. 

im really not trying to spam or anything here, because it honestly works.  go to the support forums on that link i sent and you can see the testimonials from people getting their stuff.  hope this helps someone.

anyway....9 points took me about and hour or two.  and once you start getting referrals it adds up.  of course 15% isnt much, but referrals help.  no it doesnt take a long time.  a lot of the offers, it tells you before you click on them from the gaminglagoon site "just complete the first 2 pages", so you arent doing the whole survey on a lot of them.  i just do the first 2 or 3, and then close the window.  its all bogus info in the survey anyway, so it doesnt matter. 

the points you get are based on what kind of survey you take.  it tells you in the "available offers" link under each offer how many points you get for completing the survey.  some are 1 point, some are 2 even, and then theres the ones that are like 15 points, but those cost money usually.  i figure on just doing the free ones since thats the whole point of this anyway.

i agree....my job pays a lot more than that.  HOWEVER....i do this because my wife lays down the hammer on me and gets pissed when i go out and spend "our money" on more game stuff.  i have a wii, 360, ps2, arcade, etc.  if its not my birthday or christmas or whatever, she gives me the whole "you dont need it" speech, and then i wind up with nothing.  this way i can fill out some surveys every now and then, and get free stuff and i dont have to hear any griping. 

for all us married guys with wives who dont want any more "game stuff" costs coming out of the ol' account....this is a good way to get it.

Umm I think the term "only 22 points" is relative.  By looking at the offers, 90% of the free ones are 1 point or less that means a person would have to do at least 22 surveys.  That's cruel and unusual punishment.

i think whats more cruel and unusual punishment is the fact that video game developers are charging you extra to download content thats either already on the disk and just needs to be "unlocked" but spending extra money, or thats a "new feature" and requires to buy it.

Looking at some of these sites they seem pretty sketchy.  One was trying to install a certificate on my computer, and one of the questions was asking for my ssn, and bank routing number.  No way I'm going to give that out.

cool.  and just so you know, sometimes if they have the wii points cards in stock, they will get the code, and just email it to you so you can have it faster.  if they dont have any in stock, they will ship it to you.  my first wii points card was emailed to me and i got the points right away.  the second wii points card was shipped and it took about a week or two to get it after they processed my prize request.

Because of the charger, I signed up.  Thought it'd be worth a shot.  While watching the OSU/Gtown game, managed to rack up 20 points.  Watched the Florida/UCLA game then as well...

And the disapprovals started.  I did all the free non cc ones first.  Like I said, things went well.  Then the points stopped flowing.  According to the forums, if you haven't been credited for the completed survey within 15 minutes, more than likely, you won't get credit for it ever.  So far I have 27 approved, and 7 disapproved.  I have a run of 6 disapproved in a row currently, and that list is likely to grow quite rapidly while I sleep tonight.

So I used up all the free non cc ones, and decided since I was only 12 off the charger, that I'd try the True offer.  You sign up for a free week's worth of service, but you can cancel by calling after that.  It's worth the most, at a whopping 18 points.
Well, it's been an hour since I completed that one, and still no approval for it.  It ain't looking good.

The forums are becoming overrun with complaints about surveys not being approved, and many times its the same offers.  Some offers just don't seem to be approved for anyone.  The site's moderators give a small checklist, and I know I fit all the requirements to have the True offer approved, yet it's looking like the opposite is inevitable.

Since I'm relatively close, and there's a few other offers that'll get me the necessary points for that charger, I'll keep trying for a week or two to get the damn thing, but other than that...

THIS SITE IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR PATIENCE.

I claim to know nothing about free sites.  This is the first time I've ever attempted anything like this.  Never tried conga lines, but this one seemed relatively easy.  It is, but geez, it's becoming increasingly frustrating.

I decided to try it out while I was home sick today and I completed about 10 points worth (although it looks like 3 or 4 of those points are going to be rejected for some reason), but I find some of the descriptions of the offers pretty funny.

hypernova - when i first started on this site, i could only get about 10 points myself.  i saw the value in getting referrals...and truly, that is the way to go.  i mainly sent an email out to friends, who then forwarded it to others, and after a couple of days i had over 60 referrals.  i havent filled out a survey myself in 2 weeks, but managed to accumulate 40 points.  i totally agree with you that if you fill out all the surveys YOURSELF then it will take a long time, and its not worth it. get some referrals and it will add up.  the disapproved surveys are a probably because the surveys you are filling out are afilliated with other surveys that have already been approved.  they answer all your questions in the FAQ section....but of course all the complaints on the forums are because no one reads it.  much like the newbies on the BYOAC msg board.  no one searches, or reads the FAQ, so they complain about not knowing stuff, or that no one is responding them or whatever.  get some referrals, and be patient.  if you dont have the patience, then odds are you are more apt to go out and just buy what you need anyway.

atomsmasher - 75% of the surveys are legitimately FREE.  the other surveys that actually cost money are the credit card offers that i personally dont do.  thats the reason that you get a crap load of points for filling those out.  you pay shipping, but you get like 15 points for it.  i dont want to give people my CC number or SSN so i dont fill those out.  however...once again some of my referrals do fill those out.  if they fill one out and get 15 points for it, i get 2 points for everyone they do.  some people do all the CC offers so you can see how my points will rack up.  in this case it is sorta like a conga line, but you arent restricted to your prizes only if they sign up...you can get it on your own but it takes longer.  that is why it is encouraged for you to get referrals.

to date i have 4 ms points cards, and 1 wii points card.  i got that in 2 months.  i have almost enough points accumulated in a weeks time right now to get my wii charger.  so if that is not worth my "patience" then thats cool with me.  ill be sitting with all my legit FREE stuff...but doubters will either have zilch, or will just go out and buy it themselves which is a whole lot faster.  but if you are like me and your wife is telling you "no more game stuff", gaminglagoo is heavensent.

forums are also a good place.  of course you run the risk of being accused of spamming    but whatever.  if you have some other forums that you frequent, thats a good place to start.  you will always have the naysayers who just want to accuse you of doing anything that remotely resembles something theyve never tried...but hey, they are the ones without free stuff.

I'm at 22.49 points with 27 approved and 22 disapproved.  I have made my way through all the free surveys.  Now I'm waiting for my 1,600 market place points.  So, if you keep working you will eventually hit 22 points.

jonthebomb - im guessing this is your first prize request.  just so you know, it took a couple of days to get the prize request processed.  they email you the code, or you can look at your My Prizes link.  i think sometimes they ship them to you, but i dont know why since you can buy them online...that maybe a false statement.  my first code was invalid and i immediately thought "great, spent all this time only to be scammed"....but it was actually a typo, and i submitted a trouble ticket and i got a response in 3 days with the correct code.  havent had a problem since.

Were you able to quickly quit the stamps.com free trial after you were approved?  I'd consider doing that, then a couple more surveys to get over the 22 point hump if it wasn't much of a hassle.

I like to wait a day or so to make sure I get them approved.  I canceled the stamps yesterday.  I would recommend using your real contact information on any that use credit cards, mainly the True and Stamps one.  I just fudged the phone number by one digit (if they ask, I could say I mistyped.)  We've all seen the True ads over the years, so I felt pretty confident it was a legit company.

I had to call the stamps one, which took about 5 minutes.  Make sure to document everything you use to sign up for that, including your secret question.  They'll ask it when you want to cancel.  I waited to cancel that one after my prize request was approved.  (You know, just to make sure.)  The True one I was able to cancel online (even though it says you need to call.  I called later, and they told me it was canceled already online.  Still can't believe I got denied that one.  It still hurts!!)

I'm looking at the efax one as a possibility next, as it's another free 30 day trial for 7.5 points.  It says you can cancel via live chat.  Like I said, I like waiting a few days.  It's easy to just leave yourself a note.  It's also hard to forget when you check the site every day.

My charger has shipped, so I'll give you more info if/when I see it, and whether it is the actual Nyko brand.

I was emailed a tracking number, and it says it was shipped via USPS Priority Mail.  If it was picked up that day, I'd have it by now.  That's the whole problem with USPS tracking.  If someone has that electronic notification stuff going on, there's no telling when it actually is picked up and shipped.  The stupid tracking page doesn't even update until AFTER you have the damn item in your hands.  (Nothing like UPS's tracking system.)

Will update with furthur developments.

Edit:  My email saying it was shipped says it was supposed to ship on the fourth, so if all goes according to what the email seems to state, I should have it tomorrow.

thats odd, i would call nyko though seriously.  one of my friends actually works for nyko and he said that very few of their battery pack thingys flaked out, but some did...and they replaced them for free.

sweet!  i just requested the nyko charger myself for the wiimotes.  it says pending shipment so who knows how long it will take to actually ship it.  it may be on back order or whatever.

I sent the battery back early last week.

I arrive home today to a DHL package.

Nyko sent me an ENTIRELY NEW CHARGE STATION!!!

Now I've got three rechargeable batteries and two stations!

oh and btw, gaminglagoon added a butt load of prizes.  3 of the big ones being a DS Lite, a Gamecube, and a PSP!  granted they cost a lot of points, but at least you can save up now.  gamecube is reachable.  ive spent about 78 points in 2 months, and i now have about 43 so i would just now being having enough to get a handheld or something.  but still, if you save, the option is there.

referrals work by you getting people to click on your banner or click your link.  when they click on your link, the site they go to has your ref number in it...and thats how you get credit.  btw, theres now videogamelagoon.com which is slightly better.  you get amazon.com credit basically to put towards getting free games.

get the referrals man.  thats where its at.  ive spent 124 points so far since ive joined about 2 months ago.  9 of those points are from me actually doing surveys....and the rest is just 15% of whatever everyone else does for me.

went to the support forums and saw a post about all offers getting denied.  apparently its happening to a lot of people.  the main admin guy responded with this:

"It appears our import script for the ID offers has broken.

We are working to resolve it now, our development staff is reviewing the files to see what has changed and such.

I believe we have a feature to resubmit all failed credits back for approval, I 'm double checking now on that to confirm"

you may want to wait a day or two to see if they fix it first, but one of the other mods said this:

"if you did the offer 100% truthfully then open a ticket with the following information:

1) Date and approximate time including time zone it was completed
2) The website of ours you completed it on
3) Your username on our website
4) A Copy of a welcome email you should have received from them, in text format.
5) The email address in which the order was placed with them under.

They only concern themselves with offers that actually cost a person money.  All free offers that are disapproved are, for the most part, ignored, no matter if you were truthful or not.  There's so many disapproved free offers, it would bog them down to worry about them.

Try getting a new email every few weeks or so.  And change your fake information at the same time.  It seems to help somewhat, though I can't verify that it really does or not.  It just seems to.  And if you plan on doing any ones that do require money/cc, DEFINITELY change your email.  But you'll need to use all accurate info for those anyway.  Be sure to change whatever email you have on file at gaminglagoon to the same thing as well.

I'm not sure how you get assigned an IP, but if you can change that as well (by disconnecting or whatever) at the same time, you might as well do that too!

in case anyone cares.....gaminglagoon now has custom orders.  this means that you can submit a request for anything from amazon.com, ebgames, or circuit city that is "gaming related".  this doesnt have to be just video games however as i found out.  i asked if i could get Heroclix stuff from amazon (table top game) and they said yes.     so if you are into anything other than video games, but still games related, you can get that through gaminglagoon.

It means they've been verifying mailing addresses for the prizes.  I.E. your information on gaming lagoon better be right!  You should have an email that tells you to call a certain number, and give out what information you entered on the site.  It's so they don't have to mail prizes out to fake addresses, I guess, as I'm not sure what happens to the prize, other than it gets returned, at their expense.

When you call, you'll just leave a message with the information they want.  You only have to do it once for as long as you're a member of the site.

For those who haven't done offers like this before and haven't figured out how to rack up a lot of points quickly, safely and legitimately, here's a tip for you: get a rechargeable credit card with about $15 worth of cash on it and use that to sign up for those $1 to $3 offers that enroll you in a club that will charge $40/month to your card after the 7 day trial period. The card will cost you about $5 + the cash you put on it, so figure $20. The plus side is that you'll never have to worry about fighting to cancel the offer or being scam-charged some insane membership charge because they most they can ever get from you is the couple of bucks you have left on the card. I racked up 56 quick points using this method with another 60 or so points on the way as soon as they get approved (things like the NY Times and NetFlix that have a few day delay on them getting approved).

Those cards work perfectly, I used an American Express gift card for mine-as near as I can tell, those cards just accept whatever address you give them. There were a couple of offers that wouldn't accept it, but it was like two of them out of the 25 or so I tried.

That being said, I applied for my paypal debit card.  I always have a decent amount ($50 or so) in there.

I'm going to be hitting those things hard and often.  It costs money, but it's SO damn time-effective.  Five minutes for half a point?  How about three minutes and $2 for 10 points!

I'll be using the ones that reward you with at least 4x the amount of money you put in.

Gaming Lagoon only cares if your $1/etc charge goes through, that's what nets them their bonus. Those $40 a month membership fees that the companies try to charge after the trial period is over earns GL nothing, so they don't have a reason to care about them. Basically all this method does is ensure that you don't have to bother with remembering to call in and cancel your membership before the trial ends.

No address included with it and the name on it says "Gift Card Recipient" or something similar. There were a couple of offers the card wouldn't work with, maybe try a few more? IIRC, I had the best luck with offers that had the three letter Mil - code in front of the name.

Just been getting 360 and Wii points-no real need for any of the hardware (have two complete Wii controller sets and got four wireless controllers with my 360 when I bought it off Ebay). I considered getting the Wii batteries, but, honestly, I have a hundred or so batteries sitting in a drawer here that I barely use now that the kids have moved from small toys to using the computer and consoles, so I can't justify it to myself. I figure with points at least I can play around with some new games and such.

Not sure...Have you gotten an email from stamps.com in your email you signed up with gaminglagoon?  They send tracking numbers (not realtime tracking however...just pickup and delivery is tracked) to that email when it's shipped.

just a little update to this for those who care.  this site is now offering gift cards as prizes as long as you justify it as gaming related.  thats not just video games, thats board games, card games, etc.  but really, what you can do is request a gift card to circuit city or best buy or something, and just say its "for bioshock" or something like that, and then take your gift card and go buy dvds or something.  thats what i did anyway.  i got a $60 gift card to circuit city and i just bought some dvds.  pretty sweet.  but anyway, this doesnt limit you to one thing if you arent into console gaming.

you can now fill out surveys legitimately, but be hassle free!  the only bad part before about filling out surveys was giving these companies your phone number...and then you get telemarketer calls.  well go sign up at www.privatephone.com and get a local number.  this allows you to post your legit phone number to companies, and then when they call, it goes straight to your voicemail.  you can then check your voicemail from any phone, by dialing your new privatephone number and putting in the PIN number.  BUT THE COOL THING is that you can then call back that number and it will show up on caller ID as your privatephone.com number!  whys that so cool??  because gaminglagoon requires you to call them back to give your shipping info, but you have to call back from the number you registered on their site (shows up on their caller ID) or they wont send you your prize.  well privatephone solves that problem!!!  booyah! 

no this is not spam, just thought id help out fellow BYOAC 360/wii owners.  if you want a FREE 1600 ms points code or wii points, then listen up.  no it's not a scam, yes it is real and you do get the code to use on your 360/wii.  and no it's not like the old conga line things where you have to sign up for bmg and columbia and then get all your friends and their friends to sign up, etc. etc.  this actually works.  i have already gotten two 1600 ms point codes via email and used them.
