Tempest 2000 emu with spinner/mouse support!!
« on: January 19, 2007, 04:44:55 pm »
Hello all,

I just ran into this and instead of extending the old discussion on the matter, which was in a thread about Tempest 3000 anyway, I'm just starting a new topic about an amazing emu for the Jaguar's Original version of Tempest 2000.  This emu runs better on lower end computers than Project Tempest and it supports using the mouse for rotary control, which needs to be enabled both in the drop down emu menu and in-game using the trick of pressing pause at the options menu and selecting rotary under the new controller type option that appears.  The emu is cool in that it will remember your settings and your high scores etc., but I haven't had any luck getting it to open fullscreen with the command line.   :dunno

Anyway, the spinner support is there and it works, but the author regretfully says that it is not properly tweaked regarding sensitivity.  For me, that means I have to spin quite slowly or the direction reverses, stutters, etc., but still it is great fun to play this game with rotary control emulated and at full speed on a PC.  My spinners are fairly low resolution, however, so some of you guys with higher resolution spinners should check this out with your more snazzy hardware.  If you report smoother performance, it just might make me agree with RandyT about his high resolution kicks ass argument and maybe even ditch my homemade spinners.  :laugh2:

Here is the link.
