Buttom Config on a MS. PAC-MAN (running mamewah)
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:44:49 pm »
Here's my question?

I have a empty MS. PAC-MAN cabinet.

I want to run MAME on it, Using MAMEWAH.

But i want to keep the cabinet / Control panel , looking original.

By this i mean using just the 2 buttons on the control panel.

I would only run like all the PAC-MAN / MS. PAC-MAN variations and maybe like FROGGER.

You know, Only games that don't use a JUMP BUTTON.

Is it possible to use only 2 buttons on the panel ?

And still be able to Load the game, Exit the game, 1 player Start the game.

With only the two buttons?

I know i would not be able to 2 player a game.

And that is ok.

Hope all this made sense?

Thanks!

Bucket ..

You can do it all...Player 1...Player 2.  No problem...

Hell,  you could configure one button to be a single button for games that require it...

See,  the Player 1 button can act as a shift.  Shift plus the 4 directions of your joystick = essentially 4 commands + Shift & the other button is an additional command.  You can even require additional buttons like player 1 and player 2 + joystick left, right, up & down.   See...you can configure those two buttons to do like up to 16 different things.   You are good to go.

I would set the P2 button up as the player one button 1...then with the stock MAME configuration you can exit games by clicking P1 and P2 (P1 and player 1 button 1).   P1 already is set up to enter in to games with mamewah at least... you then can program P2 start as one of the shift combos so you can have your 2 player action.

You are good to go bro!

Shift functions rely on a keyboard encoder with that feature...do you have an IPAC Buckethead?

Mame and Mamewah can use combinations of inputs for the same effect tho.  So for example you could (as Frizzle said) press both buttons to exit Mame.  You may be able to do the same for Mamewah, but it depends on what functions the individual buttons are configured for.
