« on: March 31, 2003, 06:26:20 pm »
i'm really frustrated could someone please help me out.Im running game launcher and i have it up and running mame no problem now i'm trying to get the other others setup. so i decided to start with super nintendo. i'm running zsnesw and all the roms look like this

game name.smc
game(us) [!].smc
game name(j).smc

some have spaces in them alot have exclamations and parenthesis. And game launcher has a .map and .rom file. When ik put a game like

game name.smc it seperates them at the space?  am i going to have to rename every game this could take me forever?

is this a game laucher bug others have run into please if anyone knows how i can fix this that be great........

Download a program called Lupas Rename or else an alternative is a program called R-Name It.  These are VERY POWERFUL batch renaming programs where you could for example select all your filenames and replace all SPACES with anythink (like underscores for exampel) or you could remove all [!]'s.

By the way, it sounds like all your roms (or some of them) have been renamed using GoodTools.  These are basically rom organizers where you can rename roms however you want.  But if I were you, I'd recommend going with the batch renaming programs.

jakobud that won't help.... gens uses 8.3 format, so the spaces aren't the main issue.... download my generic command line wrapper and check "use short filenames" in the lconfig file.  I don't reccomend renaming the roms as then they turn up all stupid looking in your fe unless you wish to manually make an entry for each rom.

Hmm... that's interesting.  I use Gens and none of my roms are in 8.3 format..

Well I don't use it personally, but gathering from what my uses tell me some versions of it do and some don't.  But all versions have problems with spaces and odd syntax that wasn't supported in the dos days.  If your directory has spaces it also causes problems, for example.
