Machines on the side of the road...

I've seen post where people see cabs sitting on the side of the road, in an alley, dumpster, etc, but I've never seen one...ever...
In the last 2 weeks I've seen two, and have no vehicle large enough to pick them up...these are both in the GTA, one was out for garbage pickup, but it's been there for 2 weeks, the other was on the side of the road, where they are building a new development (had 2 monitors, one slanted and one above it was straight, dunno the name of it)...if I had tools with me, I could have at least scrounged some parts...free coin doors are always nice...

Has anyone else found things like this in the GTA???

First, you're gonna get a ton of posts from people who don't know that GTA means anything other than "Grand Theft Auto". (To me it means "Greater Toronto Area", but heck you might even be speaking of some other place...??)

Second, you have a DUTY sir, yes, a DUTY that should be punishable by law to report such sightings on www.CGCC.ca !!!

HA!  Yeah, sorry about that...GTA...Greater Toronto Area...that's in Ontario, which is in Canada, which is North of the United States of America...

Not yet ... there was a Frogger up in the north end a while back that I couldn't get to (RealLifeTM).

I always keep an eye out when I drive by SB (I live a couple of minutes away) or Gilchrist (my son is in daycare nearby), but haven't seen a thing yet.

Will we be seeing you on Saturday ?

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, I've seen a cab by the roadside on two occasions, but I'm nowhere near the Toronto area. This was in the greater Tulsa area, which I guess could use the same acronym. Close enough?

And for the record, I scavenged everything usable from both.

Man the only machine I've ever been offered for free was an old Sea Wolf machine that had been left outside for who knows how long and was crumbling apart.

I would think cabs left outside very long would crumble fast in Canada what with all the moisture and cold. I wouldn't know, I'm in Texas thinking it's cold today for dipping under 70 degrees.

I guess it depends on where you are in Canada and the time of year too I suppose...
I know my igloo starts to crumble around May or June...

Cold should be better for wood than constant humidity. Once you reach freezing temperatures, "water" doesn't exist. It's "ice". Which doesn't harm wood nearly as much as, say constant high humidity of an area like Louisiana.

Then again... snow thaw makes things awfully wet for a while...

Speaking of snow, how about that storm we had a couple of day's ago?  I was almost ready to go re-build my igloo!

I posted that Frogger a while back.  It was pretty much gutted though.

But the curious part about your story is that you were driving without tools!?   

Hopefully you have remidied that.
