There are so many copies of ET out there... it may be the most common 2600 game.  I probably have 10-15 of them.   :laugh2:

A bit of reading regarding the Atari ET game.

-S

I just read that yesterday. So what is your conclusion?

Well I tried to keep my opinions out of it and just report the facts as I could find them. I really don't know, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

No one collects neo-geo AES then? Thats for the best, the cost of those sky-rocketed for no good reason at all. MVS carts are so much cheaper.

I've had NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, PSX, Atari 2600.
Pretty small compared to most here. Good enough for me.

man, i love these threads, i have a decent sized console collection, however, since we are trying to get stuff packed up to move, unpacking them all just to take pics doesn't sound like alot of fun right now.  i'll try to take some pics after we move, but that won't b till the end of august.

i have the following consoles:

Atari 2600
Atari Jaguar
Atari SuperPong

NES (both models)
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Wii
Gameboy Advance SP
Gameboy Micro
Nintendo DS (old style)

TurboGrafx 16

Genesis (all 3 models)
32x
SegaCD (both models)
Saturn
Dreamcast

Playstation (both models)
Playstation 2 (both models)

xbox (one regular, one halo green edition, both modded)
xbox360

i have quite a few games and accessories as well.  I dont' have alot of the obscure stuff, but i have a friend who owns alot of the older consoles (coleco vision, several atari models, intellivision, neogeo, virtual boy), but he is alot older than I am and has been collecting them for alot longer.

well, the title of the thread says 'show'. my collection is quite small compared to others. N64 from other threads:

megadrive:

bought it brand new from thailand last year. its nice being the first open stuff up (",)

after getting carried away with the n64, i thought id pace myself by only looking for complete games for the sega, that is with boxes and instructions, at the right price. as you can see, my plan failed! bottom row are games i like, comix zone and dragons fury are the absolute favourites. the two on their own to the left suck the most...

handhelds. still dont know how to use GIMP to edit pics, so rotate it yourself! top to bottom: Lynx, Gameboy, Neo Geo Pocket, GP2X.

i have only bought brand new, in the box games for the lynx so far. the lynx itself was second hand, but in great shape. Gameboy is the only machine i had new, back in the day. well, a girlfriend bought it for me in 1996, so it was outdated by then. GP2X runs emulators for ALL of those machines and can hold the entire library of games of course. the game boy emu in particular is great because now i can play super mario land without straining my eyes  ;D i prefer the real deal for the others.

out of those i think im most impressed with the neogeo. its a pity it was so shortlived...

I don't have the biggest console by far, PS1, PS2, PSP, Dreamcast, and a trio of Xboxs.  It's not worth taking a photo of even.

However, my light gun collection is likely a different story.  So behold. :)

Aaargh!!! But wtf are those chairs? Sorry if I make fun about your granma's inheritance, but seriously you cannot play in those! They did not know what a console was in 1890! Maybe Eames is one of the first who saw some light from the future.

Blech! Sorry, the steel and leather office look belongs firmly back in the 80s sitting below a Nagel. The Eames did make some interesting plywood designs though.

Oh, and those chairs are extremely comfortable...I bought them exclusively for playing games.

You mean aluminium and brown fabric. If you do eames in leather, at least do it white. Chrome and black leather versions are for the office indeed. Americans have way too cheap classic-oak-carpenters. I feel sorry for your interiors, although I would love to work with some good woodworkers in Europe. Its IKEA crap al the way here.

You're right, how could I have ever confused that polished aluminum look for steel! What was I thinking. (Of course, "aluminum" is in the URL  :)  ). But confusing that dark smooth fabric for leather...unforgivable...a virtual crime against modern design.

Regarding your attitude, I think you're at cross purposes, confusing quality with taste. Cheap furniture in America comes from China or, as you so aptly pointed out, Scandinavia.   :)    American carpenters may tend to offer old, uninspired designs from your vantage, but in general they are not cheap, nor do they offer poorly constructed furniture by comparison. This is largely a matter of the economics of international trade of course.

Concerning taste, take for example the European affinity for frameless cabinetry versus the American style of face-frame cabinetry. They produce a vastly different style, but it would be a mistake to begin casting aspersions on those differences because of personal taste.

As far as oak goes, it's not my favorite type of wood either. But it does have the advantage of being inexpensive, readily available, strong and easy to work with.

I use them for anime and gaming events we hold at Carleton University and for anime conventions.  Too many people just focus on music games and fighting games for their 'video game rooms' so some of us started overhauling the idea and going with an arrangement of arcade ports.  We found that the light guns games are nearly as popular as things like DDR when given the chance.  Our video game rooms may be TVs and consoles instead of arcade cabs, but we set up all the staples; Daytona USA, Ikaruga, Metal Slug, Point Blank, Time Crisis, Pinball Hall Of Fame (Great if you can't afford a real pinball machine) Soul Calibur...  We aim to make the fun as arcade like as possible, dispite our limitations.

So to keep the gun games going, I collect what ever I can.  Allows for multiple setups and for replacement parts.  As sad as it is, there will always be some idiot that'll drop your light gun and smash it. :(

You did not get my point. I do not say americans make cheap stuff, I think their fantastic labour is too cheap so they make too good stuff!. Therefore lot buy never dying ancient oak cabinets. They are masters with their hands, but not very creative in what to do with them.

Sorry, I think there may be a language problem (I assume English is a second language to you, and commend you on using it as well as you are). When you said "Americans have way too cheap classic-oak-carpenters" above I took that to mean that American carpenters are either inexpensive or produce low-quality work, neither of which is the case.

Now you seem to be saying that because American "labour is too cheap" American carpenters produce too high of a level of quality. American labor for furniture is relatively expensive compared to the rest of the world, which is why nearly all of our furniture is imported. The stuff made domestically is typically both MORE expensive and of a HIGHER quality than that of typical imported furniture.

Both the chairs and the cabinets in my gameroom were made locally in my case; the cabinets by me and the chairs by a local wood shop.

Again, you can dispute the design (mainly on a subjective basis) and I don't expect everyone to like it (especially someone from half way around the world from a culture with different styles and tastes), but your comments about American furniture construction quality and expense are just plain wrong. Again, perhaps this is attributable to your use of English as a second language, and if so, I apologize for being so critical.    :)

Criticizing the design because it is of a typically classical American design ("ancient" in your words) would be like someone criticizing your Retro Space cab because it is of a new modern design. In other words, it would be to miss the point entirely!

it's a thread showing off peoples consoles, not a decorating thread showcasing chairs. Got to say though, that chair you pointed out in your link his pretty damn hideous.

Nice stuff, everyone.  I love that the old consoles are still going strong.....

I'll post a few more pics, but here's the first 2/3rds of the Gamecube titles.  The Dreamcast collection is the real champ, tho...

edit: Dreamcast shots added....about 10 short of a complete US set.
