Read off the AP today that there is video of his death.  I sincerely hope they destroy that master and make no copies.  His manager said that they were filming when it happened, that he was trying to get the stingray's attention when it struck.  He looked down, removed the barb, and was dead almost immediately after.

I hope that doesn't end up on youtube.

Well, 2 of those "sick aholes" are Steve himself and his wife.  Reports are that he WANTED his death to be filmed if he died while interacting with wild animals, and to broadcast it, and that his wife wants to honor his wishes.

I'm not into snuff films, so I'm with you guys, I don't wanna see it, but I almost guarantee this footage will hit youtube or other site by the end of the year

If his wife wants it to go public we'll probably see it on Animal Planet before long. Now there's one episode of the Croc Hunter that you'll want to send the kids to bed early for.

WHat one wants and what TV networks will be willing to broadcast is two seperate issues.

And the youtube sort of stuff Chad was probably reffering to was just the few seconds or minute of his actual death looped over and over again and then slow-motion break.com style.

Besides, I don't want to see a frigging snuff film and i'm pretty sure the rest of the public wouldn't want to see it either.

I agree that simply knowing the details is enough for the general public. The video should not be released. It would be used and abused, and his image would be tarnished by the influx of youtube modifications to it.

Sadly, a very long series of Faces of Death videos indicate otherwise.

Oh come on. I've seen faces of death and most of that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- is fake.

Maybe the later ones, I never saw those.  I had a friend in HS, when the originals were all coming out, who was seriously into them so I ended up seeing some.   The originals were mostly unused news footage of jumpers or recorded executions.

I guess the ultimate insult would be for Steve to end up on one of those f d up compilations.

Now stuff, anything really, is so hard to get that those compilations aren't even necessary anymore.

Still, ending up on faces of death pretty much guarantees you the worst kind of cult infamy because of the hype it generates.

Anyway, this is depressing. I'm a go wrestle with a croc for a while.
