Not only does it give temp, but a crap load of other info about your system that you normally wouldn't be able to see.
But if your system is shutting down and you suspect it's the temp, then I use Asus Probe. It runs in the background and you can have it record a log of the temperature. So then when you get a shut-down, you reboot, check the log and if the cause of the shutdown was the temperature, you'll see a spike in the log graph ...
