I have just bought a semi working Q*Bert for $90 and I will be  restoring tastefully mameing(TM) it.

I will add pictures soon.

If anyone knows any good sites on restoring Q*Berts post it here!

$90 is a great deal.   Please post a few pics as the restoration unfolds.

okay, I got it working today by just taping the interlock switch closed, but it is stuck in self test mode, because the switch is broken.

Also there is acid damage from the battery :'(

This is probably obvious to you, but I'll say it anyway.

I will be tastefully Mame(TM)ing this piece of crap!!!

It will use the knocker and will be running Q*Mame(TM) :police:

The boards used to work somewhat, now they don't.

They will be for sale on Ebay soon.

This thing is the biggest pain in the a** to work on

There is some useful info on my Q*bert thread:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,26333.0.html

I have the paint codes and all of that if you need it.

If you need a replacement bezel get it at Arcaderenovations.com Their quality is TOP-NOTCH.

Get your side art from arcadeshop.com TOP-NOTCH as well. If you are MAME'ing it and selling the boards, that is pretty much the only restoration you need. No?

One important note though. In my thread I mention how I got my knocker working with Q*Mame. This method turned out to be less than satisfying. The Radio Shack power supply that I hacked only put out 1amp. The knocker wants 3amps. This lead to the knocker either firing weakly or not at all sometimes.

What I ended up doing was running a wire from the original Q*bert power board on the back door(don't know why I didn't think of that sooner). It knocks FULL FORCE every time now.

That being said, DON'T pull and auction your wiring harness or power board. You'll need them to get that knocker up and running perfectly.

Another thing, Happ has those 19" Vision Pro monitors on sale for $159 right now.

Let me know if I can lend my incredibly superior skills in any way. It will be cool to see your take on a Q*Mame cabinet!

One thing of note. From your picture it looks like the base is missing. Q*bert cabinets have a recessed base. Is it still there or was it removed for the wheels?

The front part of the base was rotting when I got the machine, but the sides were fine...The wheels are mounted under the base making it to tall, so when the machine comes inside the wheels will come off.

Sorry, my auction got sold with BIN in under an hour...the harness and power board which didn't work were sold.

Bummer.

I know you're far off from it, but what are you going to use for the knocker power?
