Going 1 player was a pretty difficult choice but in the end it was down to space constraints and the size TV I had. An additional controller will be stored in the base for when I do want to play 2 player but the idea of this was machine was to cover as many different varieties of single player as possible.
As for the bezel - it's 10mm thick MDF. I cut a hole for the screen and then bordered the inside with 20mm strips of pine. This prevents you seeing any of the TV at all. It took a bit of sanding to get completely flush but I'm really pleased with how it's turning out. At the moment I'm debating how to mount the LED strips for the guns but I think there's already another topic for that so I'll put any developments there.
I didn't consciously base it on any other cabs but was definately inspired by some of them, namely the curved marquee (I can't remember where I saw it). I'm actually in the process of cutting the slot for the marquee now which is proving slightly more tricky than I thought...
