wells gardner k7000 chassis replacement
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:55:25 pm »
I am looking for a replacement chassis for the wells gardner k7000 25 inch.  I have looked here: http://alvaamusement.com/_wsn/page5.html and I am not sure what chassis I need.  The chassis for my monitor is missing so thats why I'm seeking a replacement.  On the yoke I measure 10.4 ohms on the vertical and 1.4 ohms on the horizonal.  I did some searching and it seems that people here have had good luck with the wei-ya chassis.  Should I go with alva amusments, or are there other sources?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Any of these will work perfectly:
825H

825HR

826H

826HR

The "R" suffix in the model number indicate it has a remote adjustment board included with it.

There is a step-by-step illustrated installation guide on how to put this chassis on your particular monitor at:

http://home.earthlink.net/~arcadeparts/index.html

Get the chassis from Alva Amusement as they have the best prices and good service.

Well, I did end up getting the wei-ya 826hr from Alva amusements, so far I am happy with it.  It does have a great picture.  But  I am having a small problem though, I can't seem to shrink the picture enough, I have the horizontal and vertical set to min.  I can get the picture to get much bigger, but can't shrink it enough to get everything on the screen...

You can see in the pic that words are starting to go off the screen, its much more noticable in the test menu.  Any ideas?  Is it something I will have to live with?  Can pots be changed on the remote adjustment board for more adjustment.  I see the horizontal coil on the board, but the slug is in upside down and no hole on the board is present to put the alignment too into.  I suppose I could remove the coil to put the slug in the right way, but it still wont fix my vertical being to big.  Also, is there anywhere that I can get any type of manual for this chassis?  As always any help  is greatly appreciated.

Alva should be able to provide you with a manual. Just ask them. You should also be able to get it straight from the manufacturer, Wei-Ya.

I think the 826 is for 26" tubes while the 825 is for 25" tubes so in enessence the 826 chassis is generating a picture sized for a 26" tube.

I assume you turned the vert size/vert height pots?

Looks like that is my problem then, wrong chassis.  At that time I didn't know 826 meant 26 inch and 825 meant 25 inch.  Both vertical and horizontial pots are set to min.  Maybe they will exchange it, or maybe I can find schematics for both and find the differences.  Thanks for the help.

Just curious, is that a universal mount or shelf mount monitor?

I am not 100% sure, I believe it is universal as it mounts pointing down in my hard drivin compact, and reflects off a mirror...

Talked to Mizar at Alva yesterday, and they are going to exchange the 826HR for a 825H for me.  Great people to deal with there.  I will post pics when i get the other chassis.

Sounds like a good deal. Glad to hear that they are taking care of you.

I would like to see your pictures of how the picture looks when yu getb the other chassis.

One thing that I would like to see for sure is pictures of both the 825 and 826 chassis. I can't see to find any pictures of these specific chassis.

I will post pics of the 825H chassis before I install it.  I didn't get any of the 826H.  I remember it though, maybe they are similar just some different components.  I am trying to get a schematic for the 825H from Alva.  I'll post pics when I am done.

Bob Robert's has a pic of the Wei-Ya 826HR . . . .

http://homearcade.org/BBBB/826hr.html

I actually have one of these chassis.... but it's missing alot of parts now, so my pic wouldn't be of much help.
(I even have a ProMax chassis that is VERY similar to it.)
All of the 8XX series chassis seem to be quite similar build except what is needed to adjust for screen size. (??) (825,826,828,etc.)

Edit:
My Wei-Ya chassis is labeled from "Eygo".
And has a green trace and white layout on the PCB.
(still all the same thing though) ::)

That picture is really too small for me to make out much of anything.

BTW, Eygo was the American distributor for Wei-ya for quite a while before going belly up. Eygo put stickers over the Wei-ya name/logos on the circuit boards. After Eygo closed up, an outfit called Promax took over the American distribution of Wei-ya. Then Promax folded up shop too. Currently there are three Wei-ya distributors in the USA: Billabs, Alva Amusement, and Arcade Parts (video1963).

Ahhh.....thanks Ken.
Now it all kinda makes sense.
I tend to aquire these things because nobody wants to mess with them.
So I have a few "odd-balls".
The "Eygo" chassis had their sticker on the flyback cage area, but the chassis PCB was marked plain as day Wei-Ya.
But the "Promax" had nothing on the chassis PCB. (even though it was obvious sitting next to the other one)
Thanks again for the lesson on distributors.....it helps alot.

Got the 825H chassis to replace the 826HR today.  Snapped a pic for Ken:

Ken, a larger pic is below:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/woodygjw/chassis_large.jpg

Also got a new toy on ebay for 33.00 with a bunch of adapters, so I took 467 and shot the tube as it was weak on all guns, emission looks much better now:

And finally the pic of the monitor running:

I am much happier, it fits on the screen now!  I wish they did have the 825HR but I can do without the remote board.  Pictures may be slightly blurry as a long day has made my hands unsteady  ;D.

I did not snap a pic of the 826HR chassis when I had it, but they look the same to me.  Alva sent me a 826HR schematic as they did not have the 825H, so sometime I am gonna look at the chassis and schematic to see what differences exist between the two chassis'.

Wow! Looks good!

If you have a chance, email that 825H picture to Bob Roberts for him to put up on his monitor ID page.

You got a good deal on that B&K 467. I've had one for quite a while now. I don't know how I got along without it. Remember to take the time on how to properly use it. The guns on the tube you tried on look good---pretty close in emission with each other. After 'zapping' the tube with the 467, you usually need to readjust the color control pots on the neckboard for proper color balance/level and sometimes adjust the screen, focus, or black level (brightness).

When you use a rejuvenator (a.k.a. restorer/analyzer) regardless of brand/model you must always discharge the picture tube you intend to test/rejuvenate before connecting to the rejuvenator or the rejuvenator will be DESTROYED!

Thanks for the info Ken.  I carefully read the manual for the 467 as I am new to that type of test equipment.  Yeah, I don't want to blow anything up.   Also sent the pic to Bob Roberts and he now has it posted on his site.
