Chicken fingers have ridiculous amounts of lactose too.

What about chicken toes?  Same thing?

It has to do with the fact that children are not lactose intolerant... lactose tolerance is born into most species and then tapers off as the child matures into an adult.  The age at which it tapers can vary from person to person but generally if the child is born lactose intolerant then they cannot breastfeed and since that is the natural foodsource, those children would have been naturally selected for starvation until modern times.

BTW, no one said 80%.  I said 50%.  You're also only talking about one isolated area where there is likely a lot of historic racial mixing, skewing the racial dataset.

50% is worldwide, which if you went to Africa, where there is far less racial mixing, the stats go way up and that's how you get your worldwide average.

I have a close black friend from that area of Texas and just asked him.  He says that a lot of folks there actually are lactose intolerant but have no idea why they have problems.  He also says the school systems pretty much gives the milk to the kids with no alternatives other than being hungry.  This would really make a difference in a poor area where that is probably the only real meal a kid gets all day.

Thanks for the lesson.  The 80% I quoted was from a study done that I found through google but I didn't have the time to read if it was one area, in the US, outside the US or whatever.. I'm not saying it was accurate for this discussion but it was just the first figure I found.

This is where I get the majority of my knowledge on the subject.  It is considered the top book on the subject, very well written and easy to understand, even when they get into fairly complex topics.

Ingredient list from BK website, I don't see lactose listed:

Potatoes, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Modified Potato Starch, Rice Flour, Potato Dextrin, Salt, Leavening (Disodium Dihydrogen Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Dextrose, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate added to preserve natural color.

It also doesn't list a coating either which is clearly on there.

I thought thats what all that other crap was besides potato, oil, salt.
BTW, what is wrong with just potato, oil, salt.  Sounds like a good fry to me.

Can't they get into big trouble for not properly listing the ingredients?

What makes you think their fries even have potatoes in them?  Nowhere on the menu does it say "potatoes".  I mean seriously, what is "modifed potato starch"?  What is "potato dextrin"?

1 arbys (both)
2 rally's/checkers

i thought bk did a good thing switching that recipe for their fries.  I absolutely hated their previous fries.  Worst in the world.  Now that honor goes to Long John Silver's.  Oh my god.  Does LJS have some fries for ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.  They'd've (I love double contractions.  Even if they are made-up.) been the bottom of the list if they tasted that bad back then (can't remember.)  But anyway, BK's fries moved WAY up on the list after they redid the recipe.  Those are the top two up there, though.  Right there. Deeeeeelicious.

How can anyone NOT like Wendy's?  Top of the line food, fast food-wise.  Though I always hit the value menu.  (Thank GOD they moved the Jr Bacon back to 99 cents.)

On occasion I like LJS fries.  I think they use the same fryer for everything, so it goes well with their meals, but you're right, they definitely aren't good (unless you're in the mood for eating there and don't mind 'em).
