I'm guessing 38-21 USC and nothing special to happen.

I could barely care less about college football but I'll watch this one.  I don't care who wins, though I'm a bit biased against USC because Pete Carroll did such a loser job with the Patriots.

If he was ever head coach of the Jets, I'm sure he was a loser there too, but he definitely did a loser job with the Patriots.  Look it up if you don't believe me.

What are you guys talking about?  The championship is over, Ohio State won.  Oh, you're all talking about the conselation game. ;D  I have to root for Texas in this one.  31-28 Longhorns in a game that will feature a great final ten minutes.

He took over a disciplined Patriots organization, LOADED with talent, recently rebuilt by Bill Parcells and having just been to a Super Bowl.

The Patriots had a successively worse record in each of his three years there.

He destroyed the discipline of the organization, letting players make their own rules, letting talented coaches go, and basically pissing away the core of having Bledsoe, Ben Coates, and Curtis Martin (that's three hall of fame skill players) all in their prime at the same time.

He did as bad a job as a coach could possibly do.

After two great games that were great to watch--WVa./UGA and PSU/FSU--this one has a lot to live up to.  But, it never hurts to add a few wagers to make a game more interesting....   ;)

Slightly off topic.

Even though Carroll did wreck the Patriots, you have to repsect what he is doing with USC.  I enjoyed when he coached the Pats because my team could actually beat them then, now I regularly get my arse kicked, with the exception of last weekend ( although all their 1st stringers and some 2nd stringers left after the first couple series to play some golf, I'm a Miami fan.  I don't reall see NE going to Indy and winning, although they do play real tough, some nagging injuries could cost them.  I'm going with Indy and Washington in the SB,    38-21 Indy...

Cheers,

Tim

No I don't, and here is why:

I care about the state of the Patriots and I do not care about the state of USC. Thus, since I do not care about USC, I have no reason to respect what he has done there. Hell, I almost went to USC and don't care about USC.

You have a seriously different opinion from me on the success someone has created in a program.    I'm  not a fan of USC either, I'm not a fan of NE, but that does not prevent me from respecting what Bill Belichik did in resurrecting a program that was on a serious decline.  You have every right to not like Carroll from for what he did to the NE program, but his accomplishment at another programs speak for them selves.  Lets use this as a hypothetical example.  I would assume you are a fan of Bill Parcells, he made great strides with NE, but not nearly as good with Dallas, although he is improving their chances, but not at the rate he resurrected NE, does that detract on your feelings that he did a good job at NE.......he did good at NE but not a Dallas, does that make you lose respect for him, do that in reverse for Carroll.  Another example,  I think Jimmy Johnson did a horrible job with MIA, but I still repect what he did in Dallas no matter how much I dislike him now.

Cheers,

Tim

It's simple:

When Parcells got to NE they already had great talent on offense.

When Parcells got to Dallas they had nothing.

Takes a bit longer with nothing.

Even Simpler...

When Parcells got to Dallas, they arleady had a great defense.

When Parcells got to NE, they had nothing.

NE did have a pretty decent defense headed up by Vincent Brown who was a multiple time pro bowler.  He then brought in guys like Willie McGinest, who, BTW, is still kicking ass for the Patriots a decade later.

Parcells has actually done a better job with Dallas than he did with the Pats.  What were they, like 3-13 the previous three years and he took them to a winning team his very first season?  That's insanely good.

Good, yes....insanely good....I don't know about that.  Remember, during that time that Dallas made the playoff run, I believe '03, they were in a weak division with the exception of Philly.  In the same breath, everyone in S Fla is singing praise to Nick Saban, while  I think he will be a very good coach, finishing well in a relatively weak division does not impress me.  Regardless you have something to be proud of in NE and you better hope Brushci gets better, you guys are lost without him

Cheers,

Tim

If Parcells can't get some better offensive linemen here in Dallas in won't matter what he does offensively or defensively.  Oh, our kickers are ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- too.

I think he was actually the only player to have a career in the NFL, Carolina I believe, I also thin Tommy Maddox ( backup Pitt QB ) came from the XFL

Quite a few players made it to the NFL from the XFL, actually... Maddox being the best of them, but he was in the NFL before the XFL too.

The reason I made the joke is that Jose Cortez, one of the kickers you were complaining about, was an XFL player too.

AV having a good year even though his numbers are actually down, hard to maintain the level of performance.  Although the main reason is Mr. Brady is slingin the ball into the endzone some AV doesn't get a whole lot of FG opprutunities, not that thats a bad thing.

As a kicker myself, I'll tell you one important thing about kicking:

It's not about how many kicks you make, it's about which ones you make.

No one will care that you led the league in field goals if you missed the 5% of them that would have been game winning kicks.

True, true.....

guess your lifetime avg could be below the avg, but if you made that game winning triple overtime kick from 65 yrds in the superbowl, that's all anyone would rememeber.

We have to wait a couple of years to see if Marvin Lewis can sustain that success, though.  So far he's had one really good season with huge talent on the roster.
