Strangely enough, I understand it. I think I know what the matter is.

When I speak Czech these days, I think in English and translate into Czech. Words are correct but grammar is shite. Not so bad anymore but still bad anough to label me a non-local over there.

Me thinks he's doing the same thing.

I do that a lot with Quebecois... think in one language, write or speak in the other, and it alternates which direction I'm going.

As was I, I do it all the time.  I have a hard time, at times, when I use a phrase which particular language it may be from.  It makes for really weird metaphors and euphemisms sometimes when one cultural concept doesn't translate as well as the words do.
