I just dug out a Power Mac 7500 that I bought for ~$20 back in 2001 and upgraded to a G3 333MHz, 136MB ram, CD-burner, IDE RAID setup and dual monitors.
It hasn't even been powered on since 2001ish and I've been wondering what to do with it since it's basically worthless at this point.... and then I thought about Mame! I Googled, downloaded MacMame v.66, loaded up a couple of my .55 roms and voila! It works!
Obviously the MacMame program/FrontEnd is limited, but there must be a way for me to get the games to fill the screen. I have the "double" or "triple" screen size thingy checked under MacMame's video tab, but none of the games hit the edges of my screen.
Is my only recourse to configure the monitor hardware itself (OSD controls) and stretch the screen? Is that what I need to do?
This is kind of cool, BTW. All of a sudden I have a completely "new" MAME setup to mess around with, and I've found value in a computer that I basically thought was worthless.
