We gave this a shot last Sunday.  EXCELLENT change-up and it seemed like we all played TONS better than normal because we were having a good time and were more worried about how to play our "tilts" instead of our scores!

TiltGolf TM is a new way to play golf where you can modify shots using "Tilters" to either help your score or hurt your opponent's score. For instance, once your opponent has hit a fantastic 8-iron to within a foot of the pin, you may choose to break out your Force Mulligan card, and force your opponent to re-hit the shot.

.....

TiltGolf TM Rules

   1. Each player must play one Tilter per hole.
   2. After a Tilter has been played by a player, that player may not use that same Tilter again in this round.
   3. If at the end of a hole a player has not played a Tilter, he must choose to mark one Tilter as used.
   4. Only one Tilter may be used against a single player on a hole.
   5. When a player is Tilted (i.e. has been the victim of an Opponent Tilter), another Tilter may not be used against that player for the remainder of the hole AND the entire next hole. That player is considered Immune.
   6. Order of play of Tilters at every opportunity is determined by distance from the pin, or tee-off order as determined by score on previous hole if players are the same distance from the pin.

Interesting Idea.  My golf game gets better as the beer flows and I worry less about the score.....but tilting a few would crank it up a notch.

Awesome concept!
Did you have trouble "enforcing" the tilts?  I know I'm gonna be pissed if I'm playing a par 5 and I'm on in 2 and someone pulls a tilt on me.  My buddies and I are a bunch of hacks so we may modify the tilts slightly to not affect any shots at an Eagle.

If it were a league, we would, but everyone knows the concept going in, so the scenario you bring up REALLY sucks if you're the person being "tilted", but it's slanted enough in the direction of not TOTALLY hosing your buddies that it ends up being fair.  If you downloaded the rules, check out the "when can you drop a tilt on someone".  You'll notice that if you don't drop a tilt on your opponent on the first hole (and follow the guidelines for when you can drop a tilt on 'em again), you'll end up leaving at least ONE in the bag after playing 18.

We actually had something similar happen.  Par 3.  Guy almost aces the hole after the ball hits the flagstick and doesn't drop, but lies next to the hole by what looks like the width of the ball.  He got hosed because it was a windy day and it was blowing the flagstick, causing it to tilt and not let his ball drop for an ace, and we got to tilt him with the "gotta take a mulligan".  After hitting his mulligan into the water on the right hand side...it's kinda hard to stay pissed when EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON is laughing so hard at you ;D

If you've got guys that'll be that pissed that they can't see the humor of the situation, I don't suggest playing this with 'em unless you are willing to pass up a tilt just to keep 'em happy.  I dunno what your version of a hack is, but if par is 72, no one I play with will break 80 unless they play the game of their life.  85 is our best golfer, and everyone else falls in the 90-100+ range.  The guy who could card an 85 is a good egg, and we'd take every chance we could to screw up his round with a well-timed tilt, and he'd hate us for it, but would be laughing as hard, if not harder, than the rest of us.

Common poke heard during our round - "Par 3, on the green in 1.....yeah, I think you can turn that into a 6" ;D  I'd like to think we also have enough honor in our group not to hose somebody who had a shot at eagle.  It's only been done once amongst our group, and they promptly carded an 8 on the next hole to make up for it.

Well I passed the info to the group and we have a split decision; 2 for it 2 completely against it (You could probably tell, I'm one of the ones for it).  I have to admit, I was surprised seeing as I'm the only one who keeps it in the 90s; the others are usually around 110 (hence the 'hacks' adjective :) )
This is our core foursome, so I'll have to introduce it to our extended group and see how the feedback goes.  I certainly would like to try it.  Thanks again for the link.

In our extended foursome, we only had one guy decide against it.  He was the one who was the consensus choice for puttin' the kibosh on it.  Some guys claim they play to get away from the wife, other guys claim they do it for fun.  EVERY ONE of us who liked the idea used to be athletes and don't take golf seriously since we can see we suck.  He had a leg injury, so this is about the only thing he can compete at anymore, which is why he takes it more seriously than the rest of us.  Maybe that's your same situation (not the leg injuries, but the "aren't competitive enough at other sports" and they don't want to give up their only adrenaline-inducing sport)

Meh......grab 2 from the extended foursome who DO want to give it a go and see how it goes, OR....next time one of the two nay voters can't make it and you've only got a threesome, make it mandatory.  The guy might end up liking it after he's played a round.

In the end, as long as you don't screw up the 19th hole experience, even if you DO play tilt, that's what us hacks REALLY play for, isn't it?
