Buddabing's 'movie maker' combines a series of PNG's with WAV samples to get both video & sound.

I have changed my nickname to "Cakemeister". Please do not PM the Buddabing account because I do not check it anymore.

I tried that MNG construction set at work over 6 months ago and it totally died on the mng's I had at the time - couldn't even display more than the 1st frame of the MNG let alone convert it. Sounds like its imrpoved a lot.

That sounds pretty good, but my mng2avi utility is free, and will mix in sound.

The utility is designed to convert mngs generated by the user within MAME into AVIs.

It will also work with generic mngs, just add movieloops 0 to the mng2avi.ini.

The utility is designed to use wav files rather than MP3s. But it might work with mp3s. Try it, just launch a command prompt, navigate to where mng2avi is, and type mng2avi and press enter for instructions.

Taking a stab in the dark, but I'm guessing you might have crashtests mng pack that was released a while back, which had lots of very short mng's with mp3s.

If Buddabings tool does not work with mp3's, you could try my old one:

http://www.silverfoxy.plus.com/MNG2AVI.html

Its a complete bodge, a requires about 3 other programs (detailed on the webpage), and I've had reports that it does not seem to work at all with mames mng output. However, I wrote it using the crashtest pack as my sole source of mngs, and it successfully converted the whole lot to avi's, so feel free to give it a try.

To be completely honest you will get superior videos - both in terms of quality and of what you have a video of - by using Buddabings Movie Maker and making your own avi's (A lot of the crashtest ones don't have any gameplay etc...) Although this tends to take a bit of time to set up.

Just in case anyone is interested ... here's a freeware tool that captures video an sound to an avi from full screen, window or region ...

It needs a fast machine ...
