AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH
« on: September 19, 2005, 02:29:45 pm »

Everything I touch, go near, walk past, think about, or am otherwise in the proximity of, over the past 3 days, has broken, failed, died, gone to the crapper.

I seem to be catching everything I encounter in its moment of failure.  I'm afraid to take a leak, now, because I don't want to touch my schlong.

No, this isn't rusted out beaten up needed work to begin with stuff.  Even my wife's 2005 Hyundai developed a problem while I was driving it.

To be honest, I feel for ya'. I have this problem with electronics. I have my whole life. For some reason anything I buy, no matter how expensive, how perfectly rated, or how gushingly reviewed...always ends up giving me problems.

As long as I can remember I've have to deal with table lamps that have their switches fritz-out on me, so I end up having to fidget with it for 10mins in order to keep the damn light on. Or I have to deal with buttons on electronics that need to be pushed a certain way, after a while, in order for them to work. Or cars that dump their engine after the warranty expires.

And it's not because I don't take care of my stuff...I'm OCD when it comes to caring for my goods, I  *never* abuse them, and I'm vigilant about reading and following "proper care" instructions...

Sometimes I just think I'm overly charged with static electricity. Maybe that's a by-product of my generating so much hot air.

EDIT: Now, if Drew has the same sort of problem, then I may be on to something with the "hot air" theory. Drew?

Today at work has been a disaster level exercise in frustration control.  Every automation has failed for weird reasons.  The product is developing bugs faster than a kid with lice.  Machines are going down like an oral porn queen.  J2EE is making me dead.

After this project is over, I'm going to have to request that my boss transfer me to something less dependent on the network infrastructure.   Something like milk.  Milk is good.  Milk doesn't need a portal gateway at all.

Contrary to the forum based circumstantial evidence, I am quite productive in my position.  Were I not productive I would be unemployed.

My kids like living in a house rather than a box.

I'm pretty sure that all of us do a lot more work than the forums would lead to you believe. That's the beauty of working at a computer, if you're an efficeint multi-tasker, you can get a lot done and do some serious goofing off at the same time.

I'd like to write a witty, sharp retort.  I am, however, neither witty nor quick enough to write such a comment.  Thusly, I am reserving this space for such a time as an appropriate statement pops into my consciousness.  Check back in about a week.  Thank you for your time and consideration.

I've got an explanation -- Last night was a FULL MOON.  For some reason, it always seems that wierd stuff concentrates itself during a full moon.

I also removed a switch from a lamp that fizzled out yesterday.

Hey, I would eat their bacon for them.  It's the oatmeal that gets them in trouble.

I think it would be great if we all had horses. We could go everywhere on horseback.

This would create lots of employment opportunities such as horse shoeing, contract manure collection and a general increase in saddle and saddle related products.

The reduction in greenhouse gasses also appeals to my desire to protect our environment and embrace conservation for future generations and for the overall benefit of our planet.

paige, in the spring of 2008 I think you should buy a donkey.

I understand, it is much the same with me, the way I am compelled to continually point out the following.

Plexiglass is for conversion cabs with holes under the overlay.

The Lusid cabinet is a bad design done with apparently with no reference to any actual arcade cabinets.

Player 3 and 4 do NOT get rotated sticks.

You will never use the 3rd and 4th joysticks (unless you have children or live in a dorm).

4 way joystick only needs 2 buttons.

Buy a coin door for God's sake, they only cost $20.

Why does your cabinet have to break into multiple pieces?

Trying to get JAMMA and mame to co-exist is more trouble than it is worth.

The computer should be the smallest part of your project budget.

A $50 computer kicks ass for mame, that other $600 you spent was wasted.

Don't extend, enlarge, or otherwise try to wrangle more control panel room out of a classic cabinet. It looks terrible, every time.

I think I remembered all of them, did I miss any?
