I was thinking a scifi novel series by Larry Niven, but I believe that was ringworld.

Wasnt there a game a while back on PS1 based on this series? I recall wanting to play it but never got around to it. I could go for some more reading material.

Discworld was the name of a Little House On The Prairie book. Gaspod was the name of Laura Ingles dog. At the end of the book she had to shoot it because it got VD from a raccoon.

hmmm. Skimming this thread lends me to believe everyone is playing a game as Laura Ingalls where you ride an elephant until you get VD, at which point you turn into a dog atop a turtle. You win when you reach gaspode and shoot the raccoon before it contracts ringworm.

Now wrap that up in several neat paperback packages and you've got the complete set of Discwrold novels.

i recomend starting with the later books, they older ones are just a lot slower and moer boring.

I haven't read them all, but my favorite so far is probably The Hogfather

Start at book 1 and read them straight through. Occasionally stop to eat. I buy them in hardback when they come out because I can't wait for paperback.

The PC version of the first was actually my introduction to the series.

Think magical fantasy similar in style to Douglas Adams, but written in a straight line. Also, I found that trying to click on Death's chimney was damn near impossible, even though I had already deduced you needed to do that to get Albert out of the kitchen.

rincewind! and cohen the barbarian! ive only read a later book. its pretty cool that you can now buy maps of discworld and the city (forgotten the name) and theres a book featuring illustrations of the main characters. cohen looked just like i imagined (",)

The city is called Anhk Morpork, home to the famous River Anhk.
