Author Topic: MAME got me a part in a sci fi movie! (Read 9986 times)

Ok, so its a low budget movie. and we dont get paid. and im only an extra. but still! im a security guard in a sci fi!

did some filming on sunday. from about 1pm to 11pm. im in the background of five scenes doing what i do best- just sitting around drinking coffee (",). the reason i say mame got me in was that when i phoned about the ad for extras and actors i told them id only had limited experience with some tv ads but that i was pretty handy with the tools. he said email him a pic of me and some examples of my work and voila!

I tried out for the same part, but was turned down for not liking coffee. I tried convincing them that It would be more realistic if I was eating bacon, and drinking hollandaise sauce. For some reason they didn't go for it.

shape d, you coulda got in because the other security guard (my partner) eats a bowl of lentils in one scene. very brave he was because until then he had no idea what lentils tasted like!

oh, and while i am not of a gallic persuasion i am the one with the french horn (",)

well, im pretty hady with MY tool, but what i meant was that im good with making things. that helped me get in because i could help out with the sets, etc. there were up to 5 foxy ladies the first time i was involved with the filming, but i didnt bring a camera. also, ive landed another role in the movie because one of the actors (a fickle breed they are!) decided not to turn up. so now not only am i a slacker coffee-drinking security guard, im also a menacing Darth Sidious kinda character complete with energy bolts coming out of my finger! whats funny is that they filmed some scenes with the original actor, and now they are using me. but im a good 20 cm taller than him!

havent heard of harry knuckles. sets and effects-wise its something better than 'dark star'. although i think dark stars plot is quite good considering...

hehe. good idea saint! in this case it doesn't matter though. just an update on the movie. we did some more scenes in the forest of an alien planet (which looks remarkably similar to jungle park land on griffith university campus). had some monster scenes and all! was quite funny when mountain bikers and joggers came across us

. i keep forgetting to bring my camera though

. movie is nearly finished now. i'll try and remember to bring the camera if i'm in any more scenes.

finally got around to looking at the web site. now i finally know what our battle cruiser looks like (",). pretty cool. apparently there is a bit of a delay with CGI because the guy who was doing it (one of the actors) was using his laptop borrowed from uni and it crashed! it also has his thesis on it so he's none too impressed...

well, then you'd love 'robot bastard'! have you heard of it? you should be able to google it. the director had the movie as a free download at one stage. i had a copy but it's trapped inside my dead drive

and is 'redemption 101' serious? it's hard to say! i read the script once but since i don't have any lines i'v kinda forgotten the story but it's to do with religeous persecution- which sounds serious. i'll keep you posted.

just looking at the starship exeter stuff. looks a bit slicker than our movie! but ive seen some stills and its not bad...

early next year will be an actual red carpet previewy thingo. i wont get hold of the dvd until then. bummer because i just met a woman and i thought a cool first date would be to bring the dvd around to hers. so now im gonna have to think of something else. maybe some dr who
