Unopened Arcade Record
« on: April 28, 2007, 04:04:52 am »
I picked up two of these records from a local record store.  One of them is still sealed.

As you can see it's called "Conquer The Video Craze".  It's an audio how-to of how to "master" Centipede, Stargate, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Tempest.

Anyway, any of you guys wanna buy the sealed one??? $20 shipped?

Looks like someone got the MP3s already.  Now you don't even have to break the seal.

Oh Jesus Christ...DON'T break that seal!  It's not worth the listen.  I just made it through the Centipede MP3...my god was it bad.  This is definitely an attempt to cash in on the craze.  On a Jon scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 2...

Yes, it is dreadful.

Might be cool with some beats behind it though...

Anyway, I don't need two of them. Name your price for the sealed one!

Generally, purchasing a record "still shrink wrapped" should be done with caution.  Most of the time, a shrink-wrapped record doesn't add a whole lot to the value, especially since that wrap does shrink even further over time, warping the record.  Secondly, some unscrupulous record stores have re-shrink wrapped records to create the illusion of "virgin vinyl" and tacking on a couple of more dollars to the price.  Also, records from overseas usually aren't shrink wrapped, so don't pay too much for that Beatles import.

I only bring this up because if someone wants to buy the record (or if you end up keeping it koolmoecraig), you may want to take off the shrink wrap should you want to keep the record from damage.  It will not decrease it's value significantly.  It'll still be worth about $1.00.   ;)

I believe Kid Koala sampled that in his track "Fender Bender." Someone else used it in a track as well; just can't recall the track.

Interesting collectible. I listened to the Defender MP3, and about 90% of it is just explaining the rules of the game.

This record needs to be played on The Record Player No Larger Than A Mans Shoe.
