take our jobs
They don't take jobs. They are given jobs.
Excellent point! I'll also point out that if the job weren't available, it wouldn't be there for the "taking".
It is small minded to blame the immigrant and think that will get you somewhere. They are simply filling the demand for cheap labor? If there was no demand the supply would go away. Why not go after those who hire? The employers actually have money and could be hurt by large fines.
Most of these people are not on welfare. They are working and without a job being offered to them, they would not have come. Illegal immigration is an easy problem to solve, but there are folks with big wallets that don't want it that way. Either vote against people who take money form these businesses or stop complaining, because these illegal immigrants are currently being invited.
Excellent points all the way around, monkeybomb. Kudos!
well theres 2 main points that youre missing here, you say they fill the demand for "cheap" labor. so say theres a contractor been in the buisness 15 years hes awesome, and charges for the fact that hes experienced and knows what hes doin. now some builder can hire this guy for 30$ an hour, or hire 2 immigrants for 15$ each.
I'd like to separate this from your "point".
Now this guy isnt getting the money he deserves,
What makes him "deserving" of getting paid $30/hr? If your scenario is correct, then he should still be able to get paid that amount, shouldn't he? I mean, if his skills and experience are worth that, then he should have NO PROBLEM getting paid that. What you look at as "deserving" isn't jiving with reality.
also you know how many of these people are here illegally, taking cash payments not paying any taxes. and then sending money back to their own country, how is this helping our economy at all
As was already pointed out to you, that problem isn't the fault of the immigrant, and it isn't the fault of the "deserving" employee. That problem is the direct result of lax enforcement of our labor laws, weak punishments when it IS enforced, and as the jokestory implies, the "revolving-door" policy regarding illegal immigration.
Also, the "taking cash and not paying any taxes" is such a staggeringly small proportion of the illegal immigration problem, I'm surprised you are buying into it. I've been on the "record-keeping" end of this, and it isn't a "cash" problem. ID's, Social Security numbers, INS cards....all of these can be found/bought/faked quite easily by someone who knows how our "system" works and is willing to sell it to people. Look online somewhere for an I-9 form. When the wording "to the best of my knowledge" is taken off of these forms because document education is a requirement, and prosecution of those scammers willing to fall back on that little piece of "how could I possibly know?"

is harsh and swift, the immigration problem will start to take care of itself, and your "deserving" employees will be back in demand.
Your aim is quite poor. You've targeted the end result, rather than the process/procedures/rules leading up to it. To put it in clearer, more understandable terms for you:
Don't hate the playa, hate the game.
