Here's a supportive wife!
« on: July 02, 2005, 04:04:21 am »
Ok guys,

Not only did she help me make the conversions to the plans...

Not only did she help me cut pieces out and attach the side panels...

Not only has she been willing to say "Spend what you need to spend to get it right..."

She was the first one at the cabinet with our "test rig" of joystick and buttons - and played Space Invaders one night until her arms nearly dropped off!   ;D

Am I a lucky guy, or what?

Doesn't sound right....she's up to somthin'.  She's cookin' something, and it smells like new shoes!

That's great.  My wife is pretty supportive too.  But she's also into games like I am so that helps.

My missus helped with my first cab during design, cutting and building.  She also lugged the thing from the shed to to rumpus with me, and play tested it for a few days with me.  What a great lass.

The second cabinet, however, has been met with less enthusiasm.  Quite possibly because I've taken way too bloody long to build it, as well as put off other important tasks to get it done.  I quite probably deserve a good yelling at, but she's shown great restraint there.  What a patient lass.

I do love the woman so.  :)

You know what, now that I think about it, maybe she was up to something...

she's told me now that I've built the cabinet, the two of us can build our daughter a swing set / play set....and of course, she wouldn't mind a sit-down racing cabinet for herself  ;D  ;)

"Oh, and honey, once you're done with that swingset, while you were "spending what you need to spend to do it right", I bought a piece of land.  You're going to figure out what to do about the plumbing and whatnot, but I figure if you can build THAT thing, you'll have our new house built fairly quickly....SINCE YOU'RE NOT GOING OUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND EVERY WAKING MOMENT NOT AT WORK CAN AND WILL BE SPENT BUILDING OUR HOUSE, DAGNABBIT!"

I can just feel the love!  ;D

no matter how supportive that was, she has it to point to until she uses it, even if she isn't thinking that now or like that at all.  Looks can be decieving.  My wife and I play all the time and she loves it, but...

I found out that I'm moving.  She wanted a nicer place that had a washer/ dryer in the apartment.  What was I supposed to say.  "No, I need that money for more PCB's"  I spent like 250 on the things last month.

Oh, and take her up on that racing cab ASAP.  It sounds like she's really into it right now and you want to use that before she gets tired of that.

Yeah I just hate it when my wife tells... wait... I don't have one. I'd trade all of it for the woman of my dreams, though.

Now here's how this all got started.

She knew I wanted to build the cabinet, and was full score behind the effort.  When we got to January, however, she also decided that she wanted to plant a garden on our hill....this for beautification and to keep me from having to cut the grass during the summer.  You'd have to see our front yard, but basically what happened is when the road we lived on was widened many years ago, the state lovingly came through and provided us all with this beautiful, unevenly sloping yard.  You can't get traction on that thing some days, no matter what you do;  as a push mower is all that will cut it, she was afraid I'd get hurt.

ANYWAY...we agreed that she would help with the cabinet, if I would help with the garden (tilling, etc.).  It's been a good tradeoff so far!!  I get my cabinet and fresh strawberries, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.  Who am I to complain?   ;D
