Standalone DVD Recorders

Anyone have a specific DVD recorder they'd recommend?  I'm looking for a reliable budget model to replace the expensive one I bought last year that died in 3 months (dammit).

What is the current best way to find a great deal online for electronics?  I'm not up on the current sites for that sort of thing... it changes so fast.
