Is there a reason why you don't want to just buy one? I think I paid less than $15 for mine.

It'd probably cost you about the same to hack and create one.  Just go buy one.

It's really hard to find where i live and it costs like 60 bucks whereas i think it would only take little to make one IF sony doesnt have like a protection ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- on it.And also I have a lot of spare time here just humor me please.

I just don't think it's possible. the adapter has a molex and IDE plug for the hard drive.  When the adapter is plugged into the system, it connects to a proprietary plug that (I assume) powers/recognizes the drive.

Pop the cover off the back of your PS2 and look up.  You'll see the adapter.

I think you're out of luck.  Just get one off of eBay.

But then there's no place to put a HD, which unless I misread the original post, is what he's trying to accomplish.

usbextreme is slow cause usb 1.0 and has much less game compatibility than ide hdd. For slim ps2 this seems to be the latest and greatest kit.

What I was asking was for a home-made ps2 network adapter like the sony one for the older non-slim models. I mean I dont care for internet connection and all that only lan and hdloader functionality. I think it would be fairly easy to do coz you only got lan connectivity and ide connector/supply.

Like I said, open up the HDD bay on your ps2.  You'll see a proprietary adapter that feeds teh hard drive power and IDE.  You aren't going to be able to make your own without a lot of trouble *if at all*
