Monkey Business

Rev 1 of my Monkey Business http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,34860.0.html marquee cab.  What's funnier than monkeys, especially ones that fling poo?  There's the theme.  Side art will probably be a beach scene, monkey lounging, drinking a cocktail and surrounded by bikini clad ladies.  Not sure about control panel or bezel at this point.

Please provide criticism and/or advice.

I would like it without the poo.  It's a joke that gets old quick and this will be there a long time.  Mr. hankey was funny to me for 3 minutes  and then it was just stupid.

Beyond that I really like it.  It's got the old school stripe and I like the colors.

If you're going retro on the artwork, I might sugest a gradual fade like the old school Atari art.

I like it, fecal matter and all.
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...

I find it offensive. It's not doing anything for our primate stereo-type, now is it?  ;)

Bananas would be better.
They smell better too.

Does anyone have ideas on other things to put in the image along the lines of monkey shenanigans?  Definitely need some bananas - maybe some banana peals - but what else?

Coconuts maybe...not very true to life, but it makes sense in a cartoon way.

Is the monkey coming out of a dimensional hole or something? What's with that circle-ish thing behind him??? I definitely agree about the poo... Gets old real fast... Bananas and coconuts... Now that's a start... The monkey needs a tad more work, too...
I had a cool sig once... But it had to go because of *someone*... You know who you are!

yeah, you'll find we're pretty hard core if poke around on the site.  ;)

back on topic - i think i'll see about getting some coconut trees, bananas, maybe do something different with the monkey.  maybe go for more of a sand/beach ground?  i think i wanna keep the poo, maybe just a little less prominent.

Lose the poo, i hate to be this blunt, but that is just so juvenille.  I totally agree that it might get a chuckle for a minute, and the 8 year old neighborhood kids might laugh a little longer, but if you're gonna have this in your house for a long time, after your humor matures, you'll wish you wouldn't have put the poo on it.

As for the rest, i'd lose the hole and just have the monkey standing there.  I agree with the above poster, it doesn't make any sense to have the monkey popping out of a hole in the middle of space.

If you insist on keeping the poo (don't know why) you need to work on the splatters a little bit.  Especially the one coming off the "Y' in "Monkey".  It's really off.  Those splatters just look too fake.

I think banana peels and throwing bananas would be the way to go.  What about maybe two smaller kid monkeys up to some kind of schenanegins....that would be funny.   Maybe fighting or have one of the baby monkeys cracking the other one on the head with a coconut...now that'd be funny!

IMO, lose the poo angle. Very crass.

I also agree to lose the monkey black hole. Maybe more monkeys, possibly a barrel?

Also, I would light his stogie. :)

Another possibility- monkeys in balls, ala Super Monkey Ball.

That's not a stogie. It's a log of monkey poo.
