The only good thing about it is if you drink two 2 litre bottles of it, your piss will be powerful enough to take paint off pretty much anything. Thats one way to impress the ladys!

LOL! You crazy Irish bastard!  hehe...

I once drank a 'Bag O' Beer*' that had the same effect. It tasted like bile, no scratch that, it actually tasted BETTER coming back up, so somehow it was worse than bile.

*The beer was made from pouring water into a bag of hops and letting it ferment. We eventually painted a face on the bag and gave it a chair next to us by the campfire. The bag demanded it!

My current fave is Blue Moon (it's a pale Bavarian ale) with a slice of orange in it.   :)

What??? What??? Why aren't you people rejoicing the joys of VB? Life doesn't get any better than a day on the VB and then a big bowl of Tom Yum Goong!

Living the delusional lifestyle.

My fav drinks:
<snip>
Woodchuck Granny Smith Hard Cider
<snip>
Yeah, a little bit of a sweet tooth.

I'm a big fan of Woodchuck's Granny Smith.  It's not too sweet.  Nice and crisp.  Very tasty!

Scrumpy Jack (and Linden Village as well as other similarly cheap ciders) is for men that were once 'this close to being someone important' but now live out of a nice dry ditch at the side of the local canal and spend their days shouting at birds and any children that might be unfortunate enough to pass by.

Ah, a flaggon of Linden village or scrumpy and the outside inn. Great way to kill an evening when you're 15-16.

Whereabouts in Ireland are you originally from JoyMonkey??

I can't stop!

My favorite beer is "free beer", but if there's any money changing hands my favorite will probably always be Shiner Bock (also Han's favorite)

I'm from Mullingar. Well, actually I used to live in a ditch at the side of the royal canal just outside of Mullingar.

So I figured I'd dredge this old thread up...have any of you Americans tried Absinthe?  Seems to be the Europeans amongst us have, and recommend it, and I've heard it's not legal here...some research shows a lifting of the ban in Switzerland, but I never thought we'd HAVE a liquor that was illegal!

Pernod seems to be either the American version of it, or the closest replica we can get.  Can anyone vouch for it, and I've heard there's a "system" to drinking it.  That should interest the OCD amongst us, as well.

For the really adventurous, a page on making your own and different drinks to try

Sorry to veer too far off the beer topic, but if anyone is into dessert wines, I've got a doozy to recommend. Much like Saint w/ the Pete's...everyone that tries it goes crazy for it.

It's a tawny Port wine called Benjamin Port. It's very sweet, meant to be sipped at room temperature, after dinner. It's relatively cheap ($12/bottle), imported from Australia, and rivals some of the best from Portugal (The origin of Port wine). The nose is like a whiskey, and the initial flavor seems like it'll be just as harsh. It isn't. The aftertaste is amazing. If you can handle the sweet stuff, then I guarantee you'll keep a bottle stocked for yourself and one for guests.

Bah...went to the store the other night looking for this, but couldn't remember the name of it.  Glad this thread was bumped!
