In two days I go back to my hand surgeon. Two months would then have passed since the fourth operation to my right hand. (See picture)

I have two questions:
Can I use power tools yet?   
Can I ride now?   

Construction of my cab is subject to his answer.

you should play it safe and get a harley!! that way it will spend most of its time in the shop  and even if you get to ride it itll never go fast enough to be dangerous . and even if your feeling dangerous its not powerful enough to even break traction, let alone get the front wheel off the ground  the only way you would break your hand is if it fell over on its stand and trapped it underneath all that dead weight

Surgeon is happy with my progress, everything has stayed in place and healing well but he has still restricted me to 5kg's with my right hand for another 2 months. I asked about power tools and he said "not yet".

Yeah been there, done that, and still doing it. I have had 88 sessions of physio to my hands since the accident which I still attend three times a week.  For the last 3 weeks I have been wearing a splint. It would hurt more than that last photo, but it is working; I can almost close my hand for the first time in 11 months.

This news is disappointing. It's pretty frustrating not being able to do things with your hands that should otherwise be simple.

I have heard loads of crap come out of folks' mouths, and put forth my own fair share.  I would have to agree that the mouth is just the other END of that sphincter.

Wife used to work as an emergency room nurse.  They said that stats for motorcicle drivin' is the 1/3 rule.  You have a one in three chance of having a serious accident while riding in the city on a given day.  Serious means "bad enough to get a nurse's bum off the chair to go take a look at you".  They also say that probably 80% of the cases are the fault of the OTHER driver.  The remaining 20% can be broken down to speed, drunkeness, stupidity and a mixture of the three.  Don't know where they get the stats, prolly from the cops.

Yeah on a bike you don't have a lot of chances if you come off. The secret is to stay on! I had a car T-bone me at 60 so my chances of staying on were pretty slim.

A witness said I went about 4 meters in into the air so no doubt a lot of the damage was done when I hit the ground. I kinda bounced off the car and was spun upward.

But hey, I gave as good as I got. Wrote my 20K bike off and a Alfa Romeo of unknown value.

Bones has been cleared for take off!

I get some more metal and screws removed in December this year which will set me back around 3 months afterwards. Therefore my window for cabinet construction is approximately 8 months.

Gotta say, I couldn't be happier at this moment in time.

Have an appointment with my hand surgeon in 2 hours with the view of slicing my open again and removing all the "hardware". Perhaps they will decide to leave things be, I really don't feel like returning to left hand masturbation for another 3 months.

Nah.  Don't worry if he pulls on the rubber gloves.  Just make sure you keep an eye on him when he does.  If he puts any LUBRICANT on a finger or three, punch him in the kisser when you're hightailin' it out the door.

OK... Been & returned from Dr Hand.

5th & final operation to right hand has been scheduled for the 12th of January. The plan is to slice me open again and remove all the titanium and 12 screws that are holding me together. I have mixed feelings over the decision to operate
