Amazing 30th Birthday!!! (arcade spin and BYO Casino!)
« on: March 22, 2004, 11:06:39 am »
Okay so I'm officially old as heck   :'(

anyways my wife, who is 8 months pregnant (which makes this even more unbeleivable) put on a surprise party I could not beleive.

We had a wedding to go to on Saturday.  My Birthday was Tuesday, and celebrated real small..family and close friends that's it..and I was happy.  Well, we go to this wedding and my wife and I are really tired, but there is a "dinner" going on with all the friends after the wedding.  We decide to change and meet them there.

I get home and SURPRISE...ALL my friends are in my house, and there's a CASINO IN MY HOUSE!!!

"Neil's Over the Hill Casino" to be exact.  Everyone was there, there was craps table with the sign "Old as Craps", our living room was "The Liver Spot Lounge", and a bunch other funny names for Poker, roulette (I now have a roulette wheel!!) and blackjack that I can't remember.   A bunch of my friends had on little vests and green visors  and were the dealers.  They even had fake money printed up with my face on the monopoly guy.

The highlight for me was the "Antique Arcade"  sign on my game area.   A couple of people didn't know about my games.  Needless to say the slot machine and MAME cab were going all night long.  About 1AM I cranked up the golden tee...it was so much fun.  I just wish my cocktail was up and running, people were begging to play it (if I hear "The Pizza parlor in my home town had one those" onemore time I'll..... probably still smile  ;D

Everyone got a couple of hundred bucks of Neil money and played whatever games they wanted.  She even had prizes for the most cash won, it was  a blast.

anyways for her to do that was so cool and for her to bring into the mix my "geeky" arcade hobby was even cooler.

thought I'd share that with you guys considering you are my friends too....now where's my presents???!!  (anything 4 way or spinning will work)  ;)

Wow! I'm 48 and I never got a party like that. What kind of slot machine was there? A Pachislo slot?

Nasty YOU'RE KILLIN ME!!!!  come on man..email the ROM, I promise I won't say a word.   :D

Ken, yeah it is a Pachislo...a Gamera to be exact.  I got it at the last last auction.   Mostly people just kept crankin in tokens to watch the little cartoons.  That thing must be ready to bust, because no one hit the bonus round all night.  Some people thought it was brought in as part of the casino night stuff.  I'm like no...I'm just a gaming geek.

My cocktail in peices and another project cab in the garage didn't help my geek factor either.

Happy birthday man!!!  That sounds like a fun birthday.  Lili threw a surprise multiplayer Halo party for my 30th.  It was awesome.  Sometimes the wives are "cool".
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

All that Pachislo needs is a pull handle ("Bandit Arm") kit and an Auto-stop kit to make it like a real slot machine.

I know it might seem strange that I'm replying nine months after the original post, but I couldn't resist.   I stumbled across this post while I was doing a search for slot machines.  I've always wanted to have one, but since I live in California, my best bet is to just run a simulator on my arcade cabinet and possibly build a custom panel for it (I have a half-dozen panels already).  Anyway, I noticed that you said your birthday was Tuesday, which would make that March 16.  Well, my b-day is March 16 also.  I turned 34.  You also mentioned your wife was eight months pregnant.  Well, my wife was three months pregnant at the time.  We now have a beautiful 4 month old daughter  ;D  Just thought it was too much of a coincidence to not reply.

Peace Out \/
