It's gonna be tricky selling jukeboxes for $60 around here with so many free ones available.  The only commercial jukebox anyone here seems to buy is Virtual Music Jukebox (http://www.virtualmusicjukebox.com), which is half the price and written explicitly for people in our hobby.

Good luck, though!

Chris,
the difference is that ours is a professional software package. Yours is a hobby software package. I am sure yours is very good. But let the users decide whats best for them with jukebox software.  :police:

well mrJuke, since you asked.......

yours is probably the worst of the litter... and i can get DOOM 3 for less than you are asking for your software.   Don't you see anything wrong with someone paying over 50 bucks for a glorified media player?

And since you are wondering why it's the worst, I'll lay it all down for you.

#1  You require a mouse.  Most cabinets don't have a mouse and those that have a trackball rarely have  a trackball that is comfortable enought to use for excessive and constant navigation.  Enough said on that one, as chris said, your program simply isn't suited for a mame cabinet.  Before you say "You can use keys for most functions"  they aren't the mame defaults and as far as I can tell they aren't remappable, and are therefore useless.

#2  Your gui looks like a typical windows application, with list boxes, buttons, and all.  We HATE that, I mean we really really hate that.  The whole point of a mame cabinet is to hide the os and make everything seamless and taylored to the hardware itself.  Aside from a few lamers who have an xarcade setup running mame 32 on a svga monitor, I don't see how anyone could be happy with the "windowsy" look your product has.

#3  It mimics the overall layout of  virtual music jukebox and functions very similarly except vmj is half the price.  (And I'm not a very big fan of it either, so I'm by no means biased.)

#4  It just doesn't offer enough flexibility in the setup.  I mean you have a fixed drive for the albums, you integrate the admin menu with the windows login, you have a slew of buttons that 99% of the general public won't be using. Heck you can't even exit the juke without killing it. (Yes I know about the bartender method, it's useless) And manual album creation?  Ever heard of id3 tags?  Unless the user is stealing music then the mp3 files should be tagged and therefore album generation should be automatic.  As an option manual creation is nice, but it definately shouldn't be required.

#5 Being "professional software" just means that you are charging for it and absolutely nothing more.

You've got a lot of nerve denouncing the quality of a program just because it's free, especially considering the high price and overall low quality of your product.  Mind you I'm sure there's a market for it, but it sure isn't here.  We want software suitable for mame cabinets and yours simply is not.

If your program was free I would consider it a good start on a jukebox program but considering it's not and you claim that it's "professionally made" I find it to be a very laughable attempt.

And on a personal note I find the way you demeaned chris and all the other developers by automatically assuming that your software is better extremely offensive.  Do not insult my fellow developers and then expect to turn a cheap buck by selling your crappy software to the exact same community.  Have you ever heard the expression "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" ?

So in closing, I took the "challenge"  and you failed.  Being a senior member and having been a trend setter for the community for a few years now I feel comfortable speaking for most of our community.  While we wish you the best of luck we sure as hell aren't drinking the kool-aid.  Your attitude isn't appreciated, and in all honesty, even ignoring that, your software doesn't meet our specialized needs and is somewhat inferior with certain key features. Please search for potential consumers elsewhere.  I'm sure there some potential suckers...  err I mean customers amoungst the newbies over at the mameworld forums.

As planetjay would say "Thanks for playing!"

Both Chris and HC say it all! The price is very high!

If you have seen http://www.thepcjukebox.com/home.htm and http://www.virtualmusicjukebox.com), These are a lots better looking and still cheaper in price, if I would purchase one.

The free arcade jukeboxes, there is here on BYOAC is a lots better (not just mine), to fit on a arcadecab  with limited controls (with mostly use the MAME keys). Dont try to say, at your is professional made and is automatic better in our free ones!

I downloaded the software three times because I could not get it to run. It would install on my PC without a problem, but nothing would happen when I tried to get it to run. My PC is well above your minimum specs. I emailed you for assistance and you did reply, but avoided the question. I have emeialed you again to answer my initial questions on how to get the software running. VMJ downloads and runs on my PC, but I really would like to try yours before I commit to buying. I would love to run Salmon King's program, but it does not offer video support. I love everything else about his program (including the price ;)) so I may decide to scrap the video option and go with audio only.

In most every thread he posts in, it turns like this.   I have a feeling he just checks in here periodically to spam the board with his sales pitch in an effort to hawk his product.

If you'll notice, he NEVER seems to read replies when responding, unless he happens to be online and reading at THE EXACT SAME TIME you post - invairably his replies are rude and condescending and serve only to inflate his own sense of self-worth.

I've learned to ALWAYS check the previous posts of someone who posts about their "new/sparkly/shiny jukebox software" to see if they even pay attention to the members here who post questions, criticisms, and suggestions.  Invariably, if they are trying to hawk a product, they don't seem to have time to actually read and address what was actually written.

Howard, well said.  I only wish it wouldn't be falling upon deaf ears, or at least he'd make an attempt to use some of your suggestions.

The only "pro" thing about his software is the way he attempts to sell it to anyone buying on the BYOAC street corner  ::)

Hello Guys

I am an owner of a jukebox company and I made a detailed tests on all the jukebox software in the market. Jukebox pro is  the most enhanced jukebox software that can be used as professionally. I see that many people support vmj but I think it seems difficult to change habits. I can understand that but get real please you can't neglect many beating features of Jukebox pro.

I can tell you many features that no other jukebox software can beat and I see from the statistics that it is the most popular software in download.com like the world's leading software.

I read that some guys could not run it. :)) If you can turn on your computer you can run it. Please get real.

I believe Jukebox Pro will be the leading jukebox software very soon and I am proud of using it.

I'd say worse than shill.  Sounds like either the man himself, or an investor.

Not only is it not getting through, the condescension STILL persists with your "get real" comments.

I don't run a business, but I know that coming here, making an --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- of yourself, and then insulting our intelligence by trying to proffer a "satisfied user" and the accompanying "experiences" has only helped me realize even further that my money is best kept in my pocket, rather than used to line the pockets of someone who has absolutely no class or tact in dealing with and trying to win over potential customers.

Go sell your crap elsewhere - WE APPRECIATE the hard work of the (currently free) developments by the people here, and if they EVER decided to charge for their product, their actions and words (well, maybe not you Howard  ;) ) show their concern for the community that currently supports them.

You strike me as the thief trying to sell me one of a dozen watches or gold chains as I walk down the street.

Try "getting real" yourself, it may save your business.

The offensive replies were not understandable for me and  this was only a suggestion and an idea coming out of an experience. I do not have too much time to watch and do this thing here. I hope all the guys in here will be more positive on new enhancements.

I wish everyone success in what they are doing.

2 words.

 " IT SUCKS ! "  :P

I have Jukebox 8 running on one machine.

I have DOScab/WINcab running on another.

They atleast give the look/feel of a jukebox.

Like HC said, this just feels like another windows type media player.

Hey, good idea. Let's "crucify" them by keeping their ad at the top of the message list.  Makes me want to have a product to sell.
