Ok, here's my full review.

The motherboard and cpu arrived two days from my placement of the order.

Well, before anybody else gets all excited like I did, I just recieved an e-mail informing me that the item is out of stock and it could take up to thirty days before I actually recieve it. How many watts was the power source you used anyway, Todd?
I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...

I am trying to build a MAME PC as well.  I'm leaning toward a p4 2.4 on an abit mobo.  will this be enough horsepower?  what is the AMD equivalent of this setup?

a 2.4ghz P4 = a 2400 XP Athlon

this is a 1.6 duron which in pentium form is probably like 1.4-1.5ghz

which if you read the review above, is good enough for all non CHD games. But then again most CHD games wont run well on 2.4ghz anyway

I'm using a 300 watt power supply that meets AMD's specs.  I'll probably replace it with something beefier but for now it does the job.

I thought that processor speeds for Intel and AMD chips couldn't be directly compared because they process things differently.

I thought like a 2400 AMD was more like a 2.6 pentium, or something like that

I read something in another post that said that CHD games can't really be successfuly emulated anyway.  But if you wanted to emulate the other games, you should buy the fastest processor you can afford.

 ??? < confused

Thanks!

the reason AMD rates things as "2800" or something like that, is just so people can easily compare them to Pentiums. on the XP series a 2400 is really 2.4ghz P4 equivalent.  but say you have a XP 2800 and you turn it on , on the post screen it may say "2.2 ghz", thats really the speed it runs at, but due to other differences its as fast as a 2.8ghz pentium..      did that make sense at all?

CHD games.. well you can run certain ones pretty good with a 2.5ghz + processor. but some games, even with a 4ghz processor will still run choppy. pretty much depends on which CHDs youre interested in, if the ones you want are out of your reach anyway, youre better off getting a mid level computer. but say you want the beatmania CHDs to run, well you would probably need a 2.2ghz +

I did a few dry runs putting it on, since this was my first AMD processor.  As a few practice runs, I managed to install the fan/heatsink.

AMD's run hotter than their intel counterparts , i'm hopeing you spent the extra $3 for some silver heat paste and didnt just slap the heatsink on with that rubber padding on it they all seem to have.

Cuz they're out.  That's the month long delay, and I bet they don't have anymore other than to fill current orders @ $39.  Anytime those guys say "Call for Availability" that means they want you to call so their phone sales....er.....help folks can sell you on another combination that they DO have in stock, generally pricier, or the same price or lower quality.
