Disabling sticky keys permanently?
« on: October 19, 2004, 09:53:33 am »
I have a W2K computer running mamewah as shell.
During gameplay if I hit the shift key(Player1 Button4) 5 times it activates sticky keys.  I of course deactivate sticky keys and select the option in the settings screen that disables the keyboard shortcut for activating sticky keys.  The problem is that when I reboot the computer I have to do the same thing all over again.

I'm guessing some of you have had this problem before.  Could anyone tell me how to disable sticky keys permanently?  Thanks

I have done that but the problem I run into is when I reboot the computer it becomes active again.  Not sure why it is doing that?

Go into settings when Stickykeys comes up and uncjheck use shortcut. That should fix it. I uncheck everything just to be safe.

I have done that.  The problem is that I have to do it every time I reboot the computer.  It is quite frustrating.

Anyone have any ideas on why the computer isn't recognizing when it reboots that I have turned off the shortcut for sticky keys?  It's upsetting to have to go thru this everytime I turn on the machine.  >:(

Is there any way possible to uninstall the accessibility options completely so  don't have to worry about it.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

after disabling it (again), open regedit and go to:

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys"

Whats the value of the "Flags" key?   On XP, I have 510 when "Use shortcut" is ticked, 506 when not.

Reboot.... has it changed?

Further instructions to follow based on your reply.

For whatever reason it is now working properly.  The shortcut is staying disabled after reboot.  I don't know why it wouldn't do it before but I am just going to leave it be in fear of reverting it back to the way it was.  Thanks for looking into this.  I might message you again if it starts doing it again.
