My cab "caught in the Timezone" is almost done!

to match the yellow blue theme I made my control panel like this:

I'm still looking for a yellow or blue poolball to replace the red one.

Last finishing touch will be a bezel to cover up the monitor (and the artwork ofcourse). I didn't paint the whole inside since it will be hidden by the bezel anyway (so in the picture some of the woodwork is still visible... ). Another finishing touch is blue T molding (which I can't find anywhere here in the Netherlands...)
I would love to have a good coindoor but I couldn't find an affordable one so until I find one I'll push two black buttons as 'insert coin' for P1 or P2.

Anyway, I'm really happy with the way the cab turned out. It plays awesome and it was really enjoyable to build!

I ordered my t-molding from t-molding.com, but the problem I now have is to find some wood sheets that will fit the t-molding   I've seen 18mm and 22mm, but not 3/4". But then I haven't been to any real wood shops (just Gamma and Praxis)

Coin doors are expensive yes. I have my mind set on a happs pinball door which costs $94 and then add "some" shipping. Kinda silly for something that doesn't add any real functionality.  

Btw, why didn't you print the marquee "full" size?

Hi! I was also wondering if there were any dutch cab builders on this board! And thanks for the compliment :-)

I ordered my t-molding from t-molding.com, but the problem I now have is to find some wood sheets that will fit the t-molding   I've seen 18mm and 22mm, but not 3/4". But then I haven't been to any real wood shops (just Gamma and Praxis)

I also got my wood, nuts and bolts from Gamma, since I had no idea where to get it. My sidepanels are 18mm MFD (makes my cab really heavy) the rest is 16mm. I understood that for T-molding one needs special tools (a router?) so perhaps I'll wait a little while with that, I've spend my budget already

Well it's a weird inch-to-centimeter converstion thing. I used 'Poster7' to print the marquee and it would only accept inch measurements since I had A4 paper I got the message that 'some scaling might occur' so here it is. I didn't want to waste more photopaper and ink since I plan to have it printed in a reproshop on one sheet of paper instead of three stuck together.

what size is your trackball?

I bought my trackball from Ultimarc, it's a 2 1/4" trackbal (5.7cm) and should match a pool billiard ball.

Apparently you can order from a dutch Happ reseller or from the european Happ office (based in the UK). I haven't asked them for a quote yet though, but I guess shipping would be cheaper then ordering from the US You could actually go pick it up at the dutch suplliers location. I called them and they claimed their prices wouldn't differ much from what Happ shows on the website, but again, since I have no quote I don't know if this is actually true. I'm still figuring out what parts I need so I didn;t order yet.

The only thing i dislike is the whiteborder in the marquee...

Besides that, congratulations!

PS: Have you considered about a real arcade monitor!?

The marquee is temporary, I'm still finishing the vector art for the girl. I will have the marquee printed in full (no white edges) when it's done.

I thought about a real arcade monitor, but this is an abandoned 21" monitor, the size is okay and I had this one lying around (and therefore fitted my budget )
The next time I build one I'll probably put the monitor sideways or make it rotateable...

Looks good! I think you should paint your monitor black though...so it doesnt stand out like it does.

I tried to remove the front cover of the monitor to spraypaint it but it uses some obscure screw (looks like a * I only have - + and 'hex' screwdrivers). So I will cover parts of the monitor and spraypaint it later.

At the moment expenses for the cab are 'on hold'. Printing the sideart is quite expensive. My wife and I are expecting our first child this month so my priority for the next couple of months will be with my fresh little family

they are called torx screew.
beeing creful, you can use some 'hex' screwdrivers). to remove them.

Did you print the Marquee with a home printer?

@JamesS: I used a HP Deskjet 5150 printer with photo-paper. The image was printed at 600dpi full colour. It looks really good actually. Except for the fact that I had to 'tape' the sheets of photo paper together, it's barely visible, except when the marquee light is lit

That girl on your marquee looks familliar.  Is she from a comic or something?  Where's she from?  Looks killer.  BTW great job on the cab.  Amazing how with a little work a person can meet or exceed the quality of factory cabinets!

The girl is Navis from a comic called "Wake" (originally a french comic 'Sillage'). I took a photograph from the cover and created a vector graphic (see also this thread in the artwork forum: http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=16195
