Enabling mouse in Command Line Mame
« on: March 12, 2004, 03:14:23 pm »
Hi,

I'm running Mame through Mamewah.  I'm trying to enable my mouse to play certain games like Centipede and Millipede.

How do I go about doing this?

Thanks.

look in your mame.ini, there's an option that you can set to 1 (can't remember its name offhand).

If you are running in pure DOS, you may need a mouse driver.

Thanks, Stephen.

I'm running Command Line Mame through Windows XP.

Just changing the Mame.ini worked for me.

Why we are on the topic.  I've done this and my mouse works, but the mouse buttons do not.  For some reason, I was under the impression that for games like centipede the mouse buttons were also mapped to fire when the mouse is enabled.  Is this correct or do I need to configure it?

You need to configure it -

Either do the "Tab" key, "Input this Game" select "Button 1" and click the mouse button, or set it up in the ctrlr.ini files.

See http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mamecontrolini.htm if you didn't follow the last part.

Thanks, for some reason I recalled that for certain games the mouse button and button 1 were both configured as an input by default.

Actually, I just checked the std.ini ctrlr file that comes with MAME and it is supposed to be enabled.  Not sure if you don't have MAME set up to read this, or if MAME isn't recognizing your mouse buttons.

Post back if you have more problems.

Thanks Tiger-Heli you pointed me in the right spot.   For some reason it wasn't in my ini file, should of checked before I asked.
