Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man slow?
« on: March 04, 2004, 09:23:08 am »
Is it just me, or do Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man run too slow? I know they're slower than on the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga machine, but I'm not sure about the originals. I never played an original Pac-Man, and I'm pretty sure original Ms. Pac-Man was pretty zippy. Is there a way to crank up the speed?

Oh, and since you're going to ask, I'm on a 2.5GHz machine, so that's not it, but I've also tried on my 800MHz with the same results.

Sounds to me like you're remembering a machine that had the speedup hack.

You can enable this if you have the cheat.dat file and enable cheats.

Hrm... I've played Ms. Pac-Man recently on three different MPM/G machines in three different cities, and they've all been fast. Perhaps these new machines are sped up by default?

Sounds like you just a young boy/girl. Born in the 90's.

All of us knows that the original Pac/Mspac back in the 80's are suppose to be slow, thats the normal speed.

Then somebody HACK it to go faster.
The New Ms.Pac/Galaga now has DIP switch to make it original (slow) or Fast.
So if you want it fast, enable the cheat and you get a fast Pac/Ms.Pacman.

Not exactly. I'm sure I'm younger than most of you, but I was born in '81. I played an original Ms. Pac-Man recently, and it was sped up too, and like I've said, all the MPM/G machines I've played on were sped up. You answered my question, which was about the speed of the original Pac-Man. Thank you.
