My First Project
« on: January 04, 2020, 01:22:47 pm »
Inspired by Flynn's Arcade Cab and Chance's version of the cab, I have decided to embark on the journey myself. Below you will see my design regarding the graphical look. Credit to any artist that I have used. All clipart, images, PNG files I obtained through public domain/free sources for non-commercial use. I am also aware of the dislike for this CP design. I plan on modifying as this is just my preliminary plans and further research will help me figure what I feel will work best for me and those who will use the cab. Comments and suggestions always welcomed.  ;)

I give you.... Sparky's MultiCade a WIP.

Sorry about first post, I had a link error to the pic.

And reading other posts....If you all agree that the logos should go away to lessen the NASCAR look, let me know. Thanks!!

Another one bites the dust.

How much you want to bet the artwork is a character collage?

Also, wish you had more depth on the side to do a full-sized dragon.

Yes I agree. I am thinking about adding to the depth. Again, I am still in the design phase and learning mare every time I read the forums. Thank you for the feedback. Below you will see the changes of no logos and I changed the color of the cabinet name.

Inspired by Flynn's Arcade Cab and Chance's version of the cab,

Welcome and good luck with your project!  I would recommend doing some research on the control panel design as there are definite setbacks with the version seen in Flynn's arcade when it comes to 4 players.  Plenty of good inspiration on that build, but as I'm sure others will be quick to point out, there are a lot of other great builds to look at too.  I'd take your time with it and do lots of research along the way to make sure it comes out a huge success.

I'm doing my first 4 player cab build as well and am deep in exploring lots of options for layout on the CP.  Come take a look and see if it helps you along the way.

Welcome!

So... nothing wrong with dragons.  Dragons are awesome.  However, your artwork doesn't seem to fit the dimensions of the cabinet and the 4 images aren't related so it is really distracting to have the image change in the middle.  I'd stick to one dragon per side and maybe have the tail occupy the top section (it's skinnier) with the dragon head and body in the bottom area? Also, is that the Master Sword separating the artwork?  It looks out of place, IMO.

I'm not a fan of the font and all the lettering on the CP either but YMMV on that.  I think you could do a really cool dragon theme with some slight revisions.  I'll definitely be watching.

Yep, that’s the problem with slim cabs - you’re really limited on your real estate for artwork. I second the suggestion of the tail on top.

Ok, see if this looks better....I am still not 100% set on a Dragon theme. I am trying to stay away from the cliche arcade cab graphics theme that a lot use. I do appreciate the feedback!!

You’re on the right track, my friend. I’d keep the same dragon on both sides for consistency. Keep dabbling! :cheers

I like the left one - the splash of color from the lava looks good.

Keep going!

I prefer the left.  More interest with some color variance.  Right seems stretched vertically and doesnt fit the space as well.

I’d widen it so the dragon doesn’t look so squished, even if it cuts off part of the castle. That’s ok if it does.

Id find some better images to play with if i was you.i think it always looks crap when an image is cut off to much by the shape of the cab.If you were taking a cab shaped family foto, youd rearrange the people rather than cut some heads and some legs off.
like was suggested the bottom of the cab is bigger and should maybe have the body crawling down and the tail snaking up to the marquee.check some of those fantasy sites,or maybe tattoo dragon images for better material.
