Anyone remember the Elek-Tek "Game Time" watch?
« on: April 06, 2002, 07:10:55 pm »
I had this watch like in the early- to mid-80s or so.  It had an LCD screen and two buttons underneath the screen, and it had four different games on it.  Does ANYBODY remember this thing?

Not that one, but I had (still have somewhere) a casio? that played a game where UFOs would pass over a base and you would shoot at them.  It also played a song that had the theme from twilight zone in it.....

Search Ebay for "game watch" and you get 300 results, most of which are handheld games with a built-in clock, not a watch with a built-in game.  Those Ebay sellers are crafty mofos...  :P

Ha, I had that Qbert watch from that photo.  I wasn't allowed to take it to school though, what fun is that?

I think my friend had that Elek-Tek watch.  I remember going over to his house after school and playing games on it.  It was all black with an LCD screen.  Those were the days...

Not sure about Elek-tek, but I do know that CGE, the makers of the Vectrex had a Game time watch, and a sports-time watch too.  It played 4 or 5 games, and had a large rectangular screen.

Currently they're selling for upwards of $200 or more when they're available on eBay and such.

I saw one go for almost $400 last year.

I still have the GCE Game Time watch that I had as a kid.
(And my mother did let me take it to school.  :))

I haven't had batteries in it for a long time, but I assume that it still works.  I may have to give it a try.

Tellarite: I still have my Pac-Man watch, and a Super Mario watch (no boxes though). They sit in a shoebox next to my hand-held Burgertime, hand-held Super Off-Road, and another racing game.

(Yes, mom let me take them to school)

Too many trips down memory lane, and I may never come back. :)

I used to have one of these game watches.  It was a donkey kong I think.  Would love to sport one now, just as a geeky segue into talking about the hobby.  Lotsa fun.

I did the other one based on first post date, making this one a week and a month past maturation.  Can I have a cookie?

Man, I somehow never catch these seriously decrepit threads......anyways......

I had a Game Time watch (and the Arcade Time), in sixth grade ('82-3). My parents had no restictions on me, so of course I took it to school. It had a silent function, so we didn't get caught playing it in class or the bathroom. I don't think.

One of the designers' pages.

I also had the Q-bert watch in seventh grade. No silencio on that one, alas.
