This hobby has lingo. I want to start a list of that lingo.
*Some may or may not annoy you...
cab - housing which holds an arcade game's hardware
coin-op - Coin Operated
cp - control panel
cpo - control panel overlay
*tate - rotated monitor
*ninty - refers to a Nintendo style cabinet
shmup - Shoot 'em up game
Kill screen - A stage or level in an arcade game that stops the player's progress due to a software bug
point pressing - The act of performing the same move over and over again in a game for the purpose of gaining more points.
ic - integrated circuit
pcb - printed circuit board
crt - Cathode ray tube
LCD - Liquid Crystal Display
monitor chassis - the PCB connected to the crt
cap kit - replacement electrolytic capacitors for a pcb
ps- power supply
arcade - a collection of several arcade machines
arcade game -
a single arcade game the PCB that you plug into an arcade machine to play the game
arcade machine -
a single arcade machine wood/plastic/metal box containing a dispay, wiring, power, controls,etc to play arcade games
pin - A pinball machine
vid - An arcade machine
operator - An individual who's business is operating coin-op arcade and/or pinball machines
warehouse raid - An event where individual(s) enter a warehouse full of games and parts. They typically make offers to buy some of those games and parts from the operator. (Not as chaotic as it sounds)
pinhead - a person who plays pinball exclusively.
game room - the name for a collector's room containing several arcade machines.
*man cave - a term used in a craigslist ad to entice the buyer. Use example: "This will look great in your man cave!"
