Controller Ports on Orignal Xbox Mod
« on: February 19, 2016, 11:14:39 am »
Hello All,

New to the forum and I just had some questions in regards to the original XB (modded). I wanted to try to switch the control ports 1 & 2 with 3 & 4 since port 1 doesn't seem to be operating correctly with an adapter I have that allows to play original console controllers on the XB system, not the adapter as it worked fine for awhile on port 1 and still works fine in the other 3 ports and on another modded XB. I don't know if this will help at all to solve the issue but figured it was worth a shot? I have never fully disassembled an XB before so I'm a little nervous to do it as I don't want to ruin anything on the console. Does anyone know of any tutorials on swapping the ports or what else I could do to fix it? Couldn't find anything on you tube other than adding LED lights to the ports but they don't show them being removed from the XB or installing them.  ???

I appreciate any assistance!

if memory serves, the p1 and 2 ports plug into 1 USB header on the mobo, and the P3 and 4 ports plug into another. it shouldnt be tough to swap them, but I dont know if the plastics will fit

They should fit.  I believe that they are the same since they have the same replacement part:

as long as it isn't actually something on the MB that is bad, you can just open it up and swap the ports. P1&2 and P3&4 ports are interchangeable. They are held in place by 2 torx screws each.
