Yeah its scratch built man, you can take respectful liberties to play classics and still have a great looking cabinet.  Paint looks great,  you're a braver man than I!

Besides, with all due respect to my Nintendo cabinet loving friends, their joysticks suck and the games get pretty old pretty quick if your not a video game savant. So unless you want it for arts sake alone, or you're a MARP competitor or an arcade hoarder err I mean collector no need to turn out an exact replica.

After all I don't think bplail is going to go hang an LED aircraft carrier off the thing....

I mounted the CRT monitor in its frame and I used my old LCD mount to protect the neck of the CRT

I made my control panel and gave it a nice thick coat of paint for the vinyl to adhere to. before applying I gave it a light sand with 1200 grit

small update. I fitted the t-molding and coin door. and as you can see I went right around with the t-molding. starting to really come together. I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far

Alright so I've been a bit busy and slack with the updates but I've still been working on the cab in my spare time.

got my VGA to composite converter off ebay so I can run the PC through the CRT and it works a treat

while mounting the joystick I used a quick clamp to hold it in place. it made it alot easier to center the joystick with the hole

PC laying in the cab with the speaker amp mounted on the back of the coin door so I can adjust volume easily
havent had a chance to tidy up the wiring yet!

I screwed my speaker in but it was making a vibrating noise with certain sounds and it sounded awful! so I brought an anti-vibration square and cut it up to fit around the speaker. worked really well!

I had made a marquee top bracket at uni with a metal bender they had there by doing lots of small bends to get the desired curve but I didnt have much success making the lower marquee bracket (you can see them earlier on in my pics). I ended up buying 2 right angle aluminium pieces and glued them together to get the z shape and also glued on a few brackets to screw it onto the cab. turned out pretty good, you cant tell from the outside that its actually 2 pieces

I have them a coat of primer and satin black paint and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, by this stage I had also finally brought the cab inside

and today I went ahead and applied the rest of the external graphics and I'm super pleased with how it all turned out!!

just need to install a marquee light, tidy up wiring, and work on the front end and games (currently has mala installed)

what does everyone think of the final result?

Other than the control panel layout, it looks stock.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!! I'm pretty happy with it! I just need to make a nice bezel to fit around the monitor and hide all the wood, screws ect anyone know how to make one that fits nicely around the curves of the CRT? Thanks

You might check the 2$ bezel out.

I finally got around to installing my marquee light. I just used a usb LED strip. worked great and gave me a nice and even light

I also deleted mala and installed launchbox, much better layout and easier to setup.

we had a few people over the other day and I moved it out into the living area and it was very much enjoyed!!

some people playing it
