What to do with an old garage door opener?
« on: December 01, 2015, 04:50:34 pm »
Motor's still good, just replaced for a newer, far far quieter model.

Anyone ever re-purposed an old opener?

You could rotate a really big crt in a cab with one of those!
My Projects:
MisSpent Youth a Vigolix bartop,  Little Bastard a rotating tablet/display bartop,
Pin-Dog a mini pin-cab on vpforums.org  Star Wars a wedgehead pincab on vpinball.com

You need an elite dangerous sim with a motorized canopy that closes after you get in.

EDIT:  ....you have mentioned having a Virtual On control panel.  Big robots=big clunky motor sounds.

The funniest thing I saw was some lazy bastard rigged his to close his bedroom door so he didn't have to get out of bed to tune out his family....

Can crusher, gate opener, or target retriever, seem to be the popular choices.

Red Green... love that guy.

The bad boys really have some torque.  I say you need one of them fancy secret lairs and use that to move the book case or bronze statue of Taft in his custom bathtub or something.

On that note they really need to offer a life-sized statue of Howard Taft in his tub people would come over and be like "What's with the creepy fat dude statue?" and you'd stand up, put your hand on your heart and say  "Show a little respect!  That's our 27th President!"

That "C Beam" he speaks of in the video sure looks to me like Uni-Strut channel.
