2 monitors, 1 game
« on: June 14, 2015, 03:40:25 pm »
We're working on setting up some tournaments on some old 80's games.

Since spectators can't see what the player is seeing, we'd like to use a 42" LCD as a specatator screen.

We'll buy one of the video convertors to convert the RGB to VGA, so no issues there.
However, what kind of stress (if any) will this put on the video circuit?
I'm a little scared to run 2 monitors off one set of outpus unless I hear from the pros (you guys) that it wont cause any damage.

Also, will having an LCD mess with the sync at all on the player's monitor?

My overall plan is to rewire every one of our games with a small pigtail that goes to the top of the game for hooking up the LCD.

8-pin connector:

1-red
2-green
3-blue
4-ground
5-v-sync
6-h-sync
7-speaker +
8-speaker -

I'm sure someone out there has done this before and can give me some pointers.

simplest is an RGB splitter cable .

another approach providing some I/O isolation would be using a buffer amp prior to the split

some ideas :

So no issues just dead-wiring 2 monitors off one video signal? Thats my biggest worry.

Extron have some neat products that are designed for this purpose. You can often find bulk lots on eBay for pretty reasonable prices.
