Favourite console game of 2014

Hey console gamers.

What was your favourite console game released last year? Was it a AAA title or something that got less attention?

My faves were:
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (xbone)
Sunset Overdrive (xbone)

Well I just got out of the hardcore fps gaming scene. My wife and I had a choice for our next console. Xbox one? Ps4? But in the end the choice was obvious.
So we got a Wii u. Now we can play games that are actually fun. Games that don't just feel fun because they hold our attention. ( call of duty seems fun but how much fun are u really having yelling at little kids online)

I will have to go with donkey Kong country :tropical freeze

Can't wait for yoshi's wooly world.

Bring on the hate other console fans. I was once like you.

Games that stick out in my mind include Mario Kart 8, Wolfenstein, Infamous Second Son, and Diablo 3.

I'm personally not convinced by Shadow of Mordor just yet.  Put Shovel Knight in that same category.

Disappointments - Bayonetta 2, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition.  Button mashing, same ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- new skins, and booooring respectively.

Surprise - Assassin's Creed Rogue - the clearly superior game they didn't bother to advertise.

Easily GTAV for me.  (PS4)

I get lost in that world.

Nah. Hating on the Wii would mean missing out on awesome games like Mario Kart 8

I found Shadow of Mordor got better as I unlocked more skills. Working out what skills combo nicely with other was pretty satisfying.

Definitely going to check out AC Rogue at some point. I played AC Unity, but even with all the patches released to fix the issues it feels like a step back for the series in many ways. But for now I'm all ACed out.

I really enjoyed some of the free games I got on the Games with Gold program for xbox one. Max: The curse of Brotherhood, Guacamelee, Chariot.

I didn't play a ton of console games this year but my fav was Infamous Second Son. It was a pretty short game but I really enjoyed it. Wolfenstein was also a fun game. Haven't checked out Shadows of Mordor yet but it looks good.

I know it's a port of an older game but IMHO Last of Us PS4 is one of the best games I've ever played.  Just awesome, couldn't put it down so I finished it over the course of one weekend and proceeded to reflect on it for the next two weeks on a daily basis.  Not much of a PS4 guy but, and I don't say it lightly, but IMHO I got so much out of that game that even if I don't play anything else, the PS4 purchase will still feel worthwhile.

If "best game" should reflect amount of time played, I think "The Golf Club" would be my winner. Even with its many issues, I just can't stop playing it.
