ion mobo's
lilshawn:
the software does has a blacklist/whitelist.
there are a few motherboards functionally identical to the original boards in every way that don't work because they have been specifically blacklisted to not work.
your at the present time best bet... if you have 2009 and up software, you can replace any of the ion boards with an intel D945GCLF or D945GCLF2 (used in the RX machines) as a replacement.
note: this board may require some modification to your cabinet/connectors to utilize. check before hacking stuff up.

yes it must be on there no no list..
as it will load right up , then at the end go hardware detect problem ,
which in my case was a different video chip.. not worth the time ,
just fleabayed 1 in and called it a day

i saw a lot of 3 go on for 40 bucks each a couple months ago. snatched them up as spares.
already down to 1 left.
these auroras and their stupid designed piss bottle coin boxes leaving coins all over the motherboard is NOT healthy for a motherboard.
coin bonks out of the side...ends up on the mobo....BZZT. donefor.

Its not really a "no no" list. Its more of a "yes yes" list. Theres a script that checks the mobo/video/sound/network chipset ID's against what is listed. If it matches, it loads the driver modules for that chipset and goes on its merry way. If not, it will trigger the invalid motherboard error.
Another note i wanted to mention is the dip switches on the IO boards. Some reason (have not figured out yet) some Mobo's will reboot loop with dip 3 down, and some with dip 3 up. No idea why. Im not even sure how i figured it out to begin with. This was mainly with Force, but might apply to Ion aswell so wanted to mention it just to narrow down any testing anyone wants to try regarding motherboards with same or similar chipsets.
