Where to buy dual buttons?
« on: September 23, 2014, 01:28:22 am »
I'm hoping to find an arcade button that mounts into a single hole, but allows for 2 buttons.

I need a "credit" and "start" button in the same housing.

I can find the triple button, but not a dual.

Drilling a 2nd hole for the 2nd button is out of the question.

I don't think there is one.
Your best bet may be to look into 8 liner / gambling machine buttons but I don't even see any of those split.
What exactly is the application that won't allow another hole to be drilled.
Can a credit button be added to the front if the cab?

Can you use the 3 way one and have it for credit, start & pause?

There is one. I forget what game it was used on originally. This guy only has the top half and not the swtich holder part. http://www.arcadeadventures.com/round-blue-red-split-button/ I've seen a couple on klov over the last year or so as well.

good day.

Pretty sure he's looking for a button like this with one microswitch per side so you can press one side to coin up then the other side to start.

I think it might be this button from Happ, but no photos to confirm.   :dunno

Another possible approach is to use one of the 3-in-1 buttons and wire the yellow to pause.   ;D

ok, I know Im stating the obvious here, but why not have the button dual wired for the same function?  hitting start before you coin up wont do anything.
Wiring both coin and start inputs to one microswitch could cause problems like not being able to start a 2-player game.

This is going on  redemption game called Fiddlesticks.

The machine is in AWESOME shape, and the client doesn't want to drill extra holes in the cab.

I seem to recall a rectangular button that fit into a single round hole that had a left and right or top and bottom.

So he wires the other coin up to P2 start button as well. Whats the problem then?
That narrows the number of issues, but you still run into minor things like a 2-credit single-player game of Omega Race (7 ships instead of 3) or continuing on some games like Arkanoid instead of starting again from the start.

Okay, I just met you...and this is crazy but why don't you just take apart a regular push button, drill a hole in the middle and mount a smaller switch in that hole.  Just make sure that the center mini switch has a lower activation force than than the outer and you'll be fine.

+ = #winning.

If you used all black buttons it would be pretty seamless

I mean, honestly, we're a community that builds entire arcade machines, stuffs lights that blink how we want them to inside of buttons, and can autorotate CRTs and the best mechanical hack we can come up with is using some off the shelf butt ugly blue and red abortion of a button?  Jeesh crackers.  Think outside the box people.  What about putting using a metal outer and a plastic inner and having the metal outer be touch sensitive?  I bet you could hack a button to where a half press will give you one input (coin) but a long press will give you another (start).  Should be doable mechanically with some hot glue and a stick or electronically with some relays.

Or you could just drill a wee small baby hole and mount a mini button.

OK, here's the problem with the above solution:

It needs to be fool-proof. My client hosts parties from time to time for both kids and adults. He can't be explaining how to operate each game.

The button currently installed is a large 2" diameter lit button.

The button mentioned earlier that is 2 semi-circles mounted together would be IDEAL, but it doesn't have the mounting for the 2 switches on the back.

FREE PLAY is not an option on this game.

The buttons must be lighted because it flashes when its time to push the start button.

Sarver, you'd really benefit yourself by giving better info of what you got and what you need.
How about pics.
It's still a mystery why you can't add a coin button.

And yes, you can make an unlit button into a lit button.

I mentioned it going into a ticket redemption machine that is in a beautiful cabinet that neither of us want to drill extra holes into.

Coin mech buttons are out of the question. Having to explain to each and every person who plays it is not going to happen.

Probably wouldn't work in this application but don't they make dual flush toilets with the button-in-a-button configuration? Not sure of the dimensions there and I'm reasonably sure that it's a mechanical button. But.... :dunno

good day.

I'm reasonably sure that only three people read no more than half of my posts. No one else reads my posts.

I'm also reasonably sure that I can post a naked picture of myself covered in green Jello while humping my wife and eating raw meat with an appropriate caption and some moron will ask why I didn't add -cade to the end of the caption instead of asking the correct question....

Where the hell did I get that much green Jello?

I mentioned it going into a ticket redemption machine that is in a beautiful cabinet that neither of us want to drill extra holes into.

Coin mech buttons are out of the question. Having to explain to each and every person who plays it is not going to happen.

Might want to go for the square buttons, for no other reason that it seems to be easier to add labels to.... Just saying....

How about making a little box that is two buttons wide, and deep enough to fit a couple shallow buttons, then secure it center through the one button hole?

Sorry,
I somehow missed that post before.
I'm not familiar with the game and don't see anything about it online.
Is the manufacturer still around?
Have you checked both Happ and Betson?
