Whiskey Barrels
« on: September 18, 2014, 04:31:00 pm »
If anyone is needing one, AND you live close to Kentucky, USA, I found someone who has a bunch of them for 100 dollars each. (Tried to talk her down but couldn't.)
It's located about 10 miles North of Hopkinsville, Ky.
The barrels are in pretty good shape.
If you are within driving range and interested, PM me and I will give you more info. (Exact location and contact info).
I wont be making anything off these barrels, but if you want to give me a finders fee I will start planning my next vacation. LOL

That's a pretty good price - around here you can't find any and shipping them pretty much doubles the cost ! -- Also I would think since those are most likely old Tennessee whiskey barrels they probably have a pretty good smell to them

For reference, the used barrel distributors I have seen in the past seem to sell these for $200-300 before shipping.

The top of them is stamped with Buffalo Trace Distilleries, and that distillery is located in Frankfort Ky.
But Tennessee whiskey is pretty dad-blamed good too!

Not sure why I was thinking you said Tennessee rather than Kentucky (probably because you mentioned Whiskey  :laugh2:) -- but can't go wrong with Kentucky Bourbon either !!

It really depends on how old they are and how they were stored after usage. I've seen some pretty musty and moldy whiskey barrels that took the fun right out of the idea.

Heres a picture. I removed the bung hole plug last night, and air poured out for a few seconds (it was pressurized).
Shed now has a strong whiskey odor.

Well, I tried to upload a pic of it but the site says it is too large, even though I resized it to around 200 KB???

Shed now has a strong whiskey odor.

It now matches the smell of your breath.   ;D J/K.

No clue what is up with the photo uploading issue...I tested and couldn't get a photo to upload either...

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks Ed. I read on the net that you can pour a gallon water in it, replace the plug and let it set for a few days. Then drain the water out and have some fairly good whiskey. May have to try that.
