Windows 8.1 x64 options for native MAME resolutions
« on: September 09, 2014, 03:14:34 pm »
Originally I was going to use XP in my MAME Lightgun cab but I went for W8.1 instead due to MS not supporting XP anymore and for the built in Trim functionality for the SSD.

My setup has a WG D9410 multi-sync monitor and a ATI Radeon HD4670 GPU using the latest Catalyst drivers.

I'm quite impressed with how light 8.1 feels especially when compared to Vista, but I've now got to the point in my project when I'm sorting out the display of MAME and realised that I may have issues with using 8.1.
CRT-Emudriver and Soft-15khz aren't supported in 8.1 from what I've read. So is my best bet to go with Powerstrip and add the resolutions manually?

I was still going to use GroovyMame to remove the nag screen but is there any other advantage to using GM with Powerstrip in my setup for getting a better display?
