Control Panel Artwork MAME/Multicade - database?
« on: June 22, 2014, 10:05:40 am »
Hello all - Trying to figure out what I want to do with my Multicade/MAME control panel artwork. I have access to a friend with some nice printing equipment, willing to hook me up for a one-off printing. I've been scouring the web/forums, trying to figure out if there is an online database of high resolution control panel artwork. Most of the links I've found are dead, or contain almost nothing for Multicade or MAME control panels. I've seen tons of great designs, but none seem to have working downloadable links to the high res files. Looking for either a classic MAME-style with multiple characters, or a fighter-style, or a mix of everything.

Is there a place online where people upload their custom control panels in high resolution format, free for other users? Thanks!

You mean somewhere other than this forum?   :lol

The Arcade Art Library used to be a great resource, but they've been down for several months and the URL is parked.

There is a list of art-related URLs here.

You might look into sharing it via the http://vectorlib2.free.fr/Mame/ page.   :dunno

Hey Scott - thanks for the reply. I actually found most of those sites/links hunting around, but none really have what I'm looking for sadly. I could try my mediocre Photoshop skills, but when I see something like the below, I just wish I could download it high res and use it. I've emailed the guy who made it to see if he's willing to share, if not, I'll keep hunting around and/or make my own perhaps. I'm trying to avoid using mamemarquees/gameongraphix since I already have the printing side lined up - I just need the art itself. Attached is the kind of thing I'm looking for, more or less.

Noooo it hurts my eyes. Give us some dimensions and some ideas of what you like (Obviously a multicade Mashup) So what games would get played the most on the machine, Classics, Fighters, Shmups? I'm sure that people would be more then willing to give ideas and assist.  You don't need mad skills to come up with some nice work, Just some time, patience and a willingness to do it.

Haha, yes it's a little busy. I'd say primarily classics (DK, Pac, etc) and fighters (Street Figher, Capcom/Marvel vs), and probably a reasonable amount of classic NES. There will be plenty more on there, but I'm betting those will be the most popular. If there aren't any pre-made ones floating around, I'll switchover to the design-my-own plan. Then I'll just have to hunt for hi-res character images and collages. I do appreciate the help though, everyone on here has been awesome since I picked up this hobby recently (or as my wife calls it, my obsession).
